This was the message on my TFT. There was a beep beep, the windows went down 1cm then went back up, and the rev counter swung to 0. There was no engine hiccup. This occurred about 15 times and then the infotainment system went black. It had power (opened to accept a CD) but nonfunctional. Fortunately, I was near my dealer (who stayed after hours to check it out) and I brought it in. Apparently the NIT module (infotainment system) was bad and due to the intersystem communication, affected several systems (go figure how the windows are involved!). They are getting a new unit in today and I ough to have her back within the next couple of days. The whole ordeal was low stress due to the rapid reponse from my dealer, who promptly gave me a loaner. I only went there on Friday and they are planning to have it up and running today! They also took care of my rear licens plate annoyence.

Ouch, great to have a dealer that knows what to do. I had a Cadillac once that took a week of troubleshooting because the drivers seat position computer would randomly send a disaster code telling the system to not allow the engine to restart.

That is going to be a problem with all modern cars which makes troubleshooting difficult, computers sending data that they should not send. Pretty cool that they found your problem right away.

It is amazing how much stuff passes through the instrument panel. The chip in the panel that controls so many functions was 2 Mb in the 360 and 575M, and went to 8 Mb in the Superamerica and f430, when maintenance data and car history were added. No telling how big it is now in your much later generation cars.

Everyone in the industry is relying heavily on CAN lines these days to operate and integrate the entire electronic system. Simple fact of the matter is it is just a cheaper way to do it with the amount of functions handled by the electronics. One problem is though that when your mirror control unit catches a cold your ABS, Motronic and climate control system all begin to sneeze.

It's one reason you really want to be careful with battery chargers. A problem with voltage can cause a failure to cascade through the electronics from bumper to bumper.

360 and 575 have history and maint. memory in the dash. No one uses it though.

What is a CAN line? The NIT module was changed and there is still a problem. FNA recommended changing the CAN line. I hope she's not a lemon! I miss her!

Good news!!!!! just got the go ahead from FNA to deliver your car back...We ended up replacing the can box for the NIT...it translates information to and from the nit to various control units in the car. FNA has been a great help to us in this case! They even set up a remote session from New Jersy via dealer network to aid in programming and diagnosis of the concern. Have fun with it this weekend and let us know if we can be of any further assistance!

Are these units Ferrari made. or third party? Hate to think that an F car worth 200 g is already malfunctioning.

I doubt it as it is the same unit as in a Jeep Wrangler. That is probably a good thing. Let the Italians stick with the engine and body design!
