total NooB ferrari question...how do you order a ferrari?

    i know with BMW you can build a car to an extent, but there are limitations unless you're ready to shell out a lot of cash for a unique exterior/interior color. for the people that bought a ferrari new, did you order your ferrari the way you wanted and if so, what do they allow you to make custom?

    also, do ferrari dealers act like other dealers by ordering ferraris for their lot? i assume they do, but they must only have a few.

    i'm not in the market for a new ferrari now, but i'm curious about the process.

    There are several options available. There are lots of standard interior and exterior colors to choose from. Special colors including color to sample cost more, of course. You can get any color combo you want but if you choose a weird one, the dealer will probably require a large non-refundable deposit.

    I think most Ferraris are custom ordered. The V8 models are probably all pre-sold but the dealer might get stuck with some non-pre-sold V12 models so he can qualify for additional V8 allocations.

    The only problem with all this is if you're interested in ordering a brand new V8 model and you're a new face to the Ferrari dealer, you'll probably end up spending several years on a waiting list. The good news is that when your turn does come up, you'll only pay MSRP.
