So my 328 is done. A relatively low-speed front offset collision has done her in. Salvage value if I buy the car is 28K. Everything from the A-pillar back is fine. I'm searching for a replacement euro and wondering if anyone's bought their salvaged car and can share any experience. I know she's worth that in parts alone but don't know if I'm inclined to keep her for spares/sell parts.

    Appreciate any input.

You now have the beginnings of a race car if you buy back. 28k seems way to much but I’m probably out of touch. I’ve paid between 5-11k for dead 308’s. Any chance of pictures? I’m always on the lookout

Euro 328 in US is rare indeed but what will you do with it ? I think I will offered parts and looking for another 328 to ride. Just my point of view

If the car is very special to you, you could rebuild it. A friend of mine did that with his F355 - it was totaled and he spent a lot of time and money getting back to perfect condition, then managed to win platinum awards in Monterey. I made a short documentary about the car (just six minutes long):

Or you could try displaying it as work of art, which was done with this 308 GT4:

Just a couple of thoughts to help keep it alive. Hate hearing of a Ferrari being permanently taken off the road, but sometimes it's unavoidable.

The only difference is a slight change of compression. 9.2 to 9.8.

No air injector ports as well. Gearing would be different. Some coachwork as well if I'm recalling correctly.

And the Italians I know in Italy swear up and down that US market vehicles of the time got the 2nds in regards to quality of castings etc...

Air ports make no difference. I disagree vehemently about casting quality. They were very careful about US car quality control in every respect. They had 2 extra levels of QA for NA cars due to our much more expensive to them warranty coverage and our consumer laws. It was mostly for those reasons North America was the most expensive market for them to do business in. Within the company during that period it was well known US cars got a very high level of scrutiny.

Gearing and coachwork? The topic was the engine.

The cost to redo the car (unless you're doing the work yourself) as in building a house will spiral. On a 328 You wont be able to recover what you spend to redo.
Or put another way you can buy a mint 328 for less than what it will end up costing.
If its an emotional decision then the car is worth redoing. You also then have the opportunity to redo the car into something far better as you wish.
As someone else said, you have the makings of a great track car.
However you look at it, rebuilding is not an economic decision.

I bought a salvage 328GTS a few years back for 19K. Damage to the right front of the car, but for the 19K I also received a brand new front clip. You're almost 10K more. A salvage title car gets a major hit in value. The car I purchased had an estimate of 48K to fix. Just some figures to ponder.

I'm surprised the insurance wants that much. Usually they just want the salvage cars to go away.

Or you can make a piece of art of it...like some did with this 360 rest....and put it in a special place where you can look at it.
