Hi all - Any suggestions as to a good supplier for Rosso Corsa 300/9 paint? Just a little btl. with a brush to dab front bumper road chips. I'll be using heat lamp to reduce a high point.
Kent, I've been very happy with TouchUpDirect.com. They have various sizes and modes of applying the paint and it is spot-on accurate. Mike
If you have an automotive paint supply store in your vicinity, they have scanning devices that can measure the color of your car and provide the pigment formula to get a match. For what it's worth, for small chips as you describe, it is remarkable how a slightly-off touch-up blends into the paint. I discovered this when I went touching up chips on my car and only then notice several chips that had been painted with a red nowhere near Rossa Corsa.
I used paintscratch, but I do not like that they send a two-stage touchup kit -- bottle of paint and bottle of clear. I'd much prefer a proper single-stage paint for touchups. Reason is, when I am working in an awkward position to fill a chip with a fine brush to make it look good, last thing I want to do is have to wait for it to dry, find the chip again, and repeat the process with the clear. I really prefer it be a one time deal. Also, putting clear over a filled chip means more chances to blob it up and makes the whole process less precise. I have tried Langka and other techniques over the years, and still find nothing beats a precise touch with a fine artists brush. As I get older and my eyesight deteriorates, that may not always be the case. I used to do this work without a thought, now I have to take my glasses off and get my head about 12" from the chip to see what's going on.
I used Dr. Color Chip and was reasonably pleased. If it is on a side panel, I found it better to do many light coats to build up the layers for a smoother finish.
