So I am writing this during Lance's whup ass on Jan in stage one. I thin Jan is probably gonna drop out maybe 2/3's of the way through the race, my humble prediction.

Who the hell is Zabriskie?!? Let me guess, a rider out to get noticed by pulling out all the stops (*clears throat*, then chokes). He won't me much use to Basso or Julich unless he was sent out as a warning shot... hmmm...

The real question is where is Sherpa??? Chime in bro, this year should be a good one. I like how one writer said it is more exciting to have a coup than and election, meaning that lance fading away in history, to have someone beat him in his last ride.

We have a lot of riders coming into maturity. Who will inherit the Discovery Channel throne, Eki or is someone else being groomed for the top spot? Will Jan retire too?

What a great opening prologue time trial!

Lance came, he saw, and he kicked ass. Showed everyone he isn't done yet and will be a favorite to win again this year. Everyone had written him off that after 6 straight wins and being distracted by celebrity status he wouldn't do as well this year. The true test will be the mountains, but this is a great start.

    Today was truly exciting...

5 Americans in the TOP 10!!!

Young up and coming American David Zabriskie won the stage just 2 seconds ahead of Lance in 2nd.

Lance had his foot come out at the start, but still caught Jan Ulrich with over 5k to go with Jan starting a minute ahead and thought by almost everyone to be Lances biggest rival.

The bull **** of the federation or French drug testers that supposedly conducted a "random" test that only tested one rider, yes, Lance Armstrong just happened to be that one random rider yesterday. Lance handled it well and made the testers walk out to his team bus to conduct the test in front of all the media because it was obviously Bull ****.

    Go Lance!

    Go American riders!

This may be one of the most exciting Tour de Frances ever and I've watched closely the last 20.

I bow down before Lance. He is top dog, and the joy of seeing him catch the cake-scoffing Kraut.....

He may have been beaten by Zabriskie, but he is still second to none!

I didn't see your thread until after I posted mine, merged, and then I'll retitle this "Tour de France 2005" shortly, but I though Lance deserved his own title for a little. :)

the race will be in my city on the 15th and i will go to see them

    you Jerk,

the french love Armstrong....he speaks french and they respect his achievements.
Even armstrong says that there is no way he could win if the french really didnt like him. he would be taken out on the course by a fan.

if the tour de france was in usa and there was a top french rider...what chances would he of finishing after all the crap thats come from the us admin post 911.

They respect him, but I would say overall the French don't like Lance because he hasn't embraced them like Greg Lemond did. At the start of his time trial there were people booing him. Germans aren't much better though, Lance gets spit on in the climbs.

In bouncing back and forth a lot for fashion week and what not, I find that the French require you to make an effort to be a gracious guest, I mean after all when in Rome, do as Romans do, and the French still do stand on tradition. Most French that I have met speak multiple languages and we Americans are mono-lingual and think the rest of the world should comply because of some previous war crap, so as the saviors, you should accomodate us. This is truly bad form to the French.

We are not good guests, we ***** and complain about everything and make very little effort to really absorb our surroundings and the cultures to which we visit. We expect everything to be more like a themepark, 'Franceland'.

Lance has always been a bit boorish, even as a kid he was less likely to make a friend than a life-long adversary, but did he care, nah. Greg on the otherhand was really a man of the people, in general there are not many champions of sport that were as approachable as Lemond.

Lance just helps perpetuate this, and when he does make an effort to come out and speak, people trash him in public, in the media so why should he make any effort when all he is gonna get is grief? Give the French a break. Let Lance have his day, as much as I personally despise the guy, I think he is a magnificent athlete.

Edit in general the French may be a little catty, but the Germans make us look like the Swiss.

My dad flew international w/ TWA for 30 years & always said basically all Europe thinks Americans are a-holes. As for what Cheryl sees in Lance: he may not be "Mr Personality" but I'm sure he has endurance.

I think Cheryl makes quite enough $ on her super rock star own. Some things can't be bought (see smile on Cheryl's face). Lance's heart rate is 38 bpm at rest.
