Hey guys! First post in this section, but have been following it for a while. I was wondering if you guys could help me out. My eldest brother is studying in Canada (we're from Brazil) and stayed in Vancouver and will still be there for the next 2 weeks, and then he's going to Toronto. I was wondering if you guys could tell me some nice places for him to visit in Toronto or nearby. He is staying there for a month just to get to know the area so he has a lot of free time os his hands =) So, can you guys help me out? Thanks in advance, Henrique
Henrique, I will start off by listing the easy places: Niagara Falls (2 hours from Toronto) CN Tower City Hall College Street (Many Portuguese/Italians and Good Food and Drinks!)
How about checking out "Little India" on Gerrard St. China town on Spadina and in Markham (lots of Chinese people there) Little Italy on St. Clair and in Woodbridge (oh wait, there are lots of Italians and Indians there). Little Jamaica on Eglington West (Lots of West Indians there). What most people are amazed at is Toronto's multi-culturalism.
Thanks for the welcome and the help guys! Are those the best touristic points? I feel like moving to Canada because of all the great things my brother says about the country. It seems to be an amazing place!
I live right downtown Toronto. There is a great Brazilian concentration here I can tell you about. And of course great women...as you know
I agree. There's also 'Little Greece' around Pape and Danforth and 'Little Korea' around Bloor and Christie.
there's alot to see and do! what is he into? cars... then yorkville is going to be a place he'll wana hang out. clubbin, then richmond street downtown..
Yeah no kidding. The so called entertainment district is so scummy now. There are a couple of places that are ok such as Easy & The Fifth, Schmooze, Milstones and of course Queen St for some cool Rock bars which are great if you are into that. Other than that forget it. College Street is hit and miss nowadays but can be good if you know what you are doing. The winters are quiet. King St. between Spadina and Bathurst is very, very cool and Yorkville still has a couple places too.
Hey guys, he just got in Toronto the day before yesterday. I told him to go to all of those places you mentioned! Thank you very much guys!! =)
add the intersection of Jane & Finch to that list, and youve experienced everything that Toronto has to offer LOL EDIT: its been quite a while since I lived in toronto so im not sure if that area still has the same reputation
Yes, it has the same reputation..........every day!! http://toronto.ctv.ca/servlet/an/local/CTVNews/20071104/murder_stabbing_071104/20071104?hub=TorontoHome If you want to visit, make sure you are wearing a bullet proof vest, and leave all valuables at home......LOL!!
