It has definite 550/575 vibes from those pictures which is really weird to me as it is a Pininfarina design, not Touring.

Hopefully, though, it will be something more original but still in the understated lines. Looks promising.

 

It’s going more and more 550-ish. And I like it!

But, I know Touring is capable of doing more than just looking at the past and modernizing and old - Pininfarina- icon, I really hope to see something else.

 

As per last Touring post on IG : official unveiling on 16th august at 9:00 am pacific time - which makes 6:00 pm European time.

Come on, still 27h30min to go!

That looks more and more like a 550 restomod.

 

I don't understand why they would recreate/update a Pininfarina design....

 

Well… pure restomod, no more. I’m a bit disappointed - still, it’s a good restomod though!

 

It’s a nice looking car but I am underwhelmed as well. They’ve done better. Touring have so much of their own legacy to build upon, no idea why they chose to update the 550…

 

The idea can also come from a customer and collectionneur how wanted his proper restomod of 550, with pure lines and DNA, but with modern cosmetic elements.

We’ve seen these last years that several coachbuilders and ateliers have developed their proper restomod (Panthera, XJS, 355, 924…). So why not a 550 but still strange though that the creation comes from Touring that is used to develop and design and not reinterpret existing designs.

Touring Superleggera took a 550 Maranello, tweaked the design, and added more power. It's awesome.
