The 412 has as part of the jack kit a screw in towing eye for the front of the car. It screws in on the front, right side, through the grille.

I don't believe there is such a provision on a 400 or 400i. Can anybody confirm?

    Thanks.

    Hi my friend!

Yep, I knew about your car for obvious reasons :)

I saw a 412 that had a screw in one when I was at Sebring and I asked about it. It screwed in through the grille.
Since then I've looked in the 412 parts book and it is listed. I haven't seen the screw in type in any of the 400 or 400i books.
I think it is a 412 item only. Good idea.
There doesn't appear to be any way to tow a later 400i from the front. Hopefully I'll never need it.

I have had the front end of my '84 400iA completely appart and there is no provision for a tow hook. Clearly there needs to be one. It's on my list of things to do (it's getting to be a very long list!!)
