http://www.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/070427101112.shtml and this one... http://www.f1-live.com/f1/en/headlines/news/detail/070426111238.shtml Apparently the former Toyota boss feels that Howett is insulting Heidfeld so he woln't look like he's following the suggestions of his predecesor. Kreyer also said that Ralf will almost definately get a new contract for 2008 and beyond, because he's a "big name". Now this is pathetic, Nick is clearly superior to Ralf.
John Howett said the German driver belongs no higher in Formula One than the 'upper midfield'. "With him, we would not improve," Team President Howett recently told Sport Bild. Have to go with Toyota on this one, they are, after all, the experts at not progressing.
Given front-field, mid-field and back-field teams, I think that they would do well with Heidfelt. If he's an upper mid-field driver, they are an upper back-field team, so this would be their chance to have a driver who is an ENTIRE class level above them! I always had a soft spot for Toyota, but I hope this chump issues an apology, because if not then it p^sses me off, and I'll enjoy watching them embarass themselves and flounder around like a fish out of water.
Heidfeld: "I know what I can do. I would rather keep driving quickly than try to respond with my mouth." Well.... Nick shows again that he's very cool headed and focused. Good for him, he's a great driver. Howett needs to shut up and perform or get fired.
Heidfeld over Ralf is a no-brainer. Perhaps that is why Howett can't see it. My money is on Howett joining the unemployment line before Heidfeld.
Posted on FoxSports news today Ralf in market for new drive RivalsDM Posted: 2 hours ago Toyota's Ralf Schumacher could be set for an end-of-season move to BMW or Renault. The German says he will be in the market for a new drive and reckons both teams will have one seat open come the end of the year. Talking to Cologne newspaper the Express, Schumacher said: "I am absolutely sure that I will be in Formula One next year. "BMW has a free spot and so have Renault. There are always other good seats." According to the latest rumours in the paddock, Schumacher could right on all three accounts. It is believed that Toyota are keen to replace him with BMW's Nick Heidfeld, while Giancarlo Fisichella's days at Renault are thought to be numbered. However, if Schumacher wants a Renault race drive he may have to fight the team's test driver Nelson Piquet Jr for it. The Brazilian recently made it known that he only intends spending one season testing for Renault before moving on to a race seat. "One year as a test driver to learn and prepare is fine, but then the perspective must shift to racing again," he told Motorsport Aktuell. Perhaps talking down Heidfeld and talking up Ralf is a negotiating ploy by Toyota?
Howett is another Bozo, Ralf should go to DTM, or somewhere else. Too bad the wrong Schumacher retired.
Ralf sure as hell woln't get a seat at BMW.Theisen seems like a very logical and efficient guy, so if he was tired of Villeneuve, there's no way he'll put up with Ralf. I don't see him getting a seat at Renault either, unless Heiki screws up BIG TIME this year. Actually, even if Heiki screws up, Flav woln't want mediocre goods in Ralf. I think he learned his lesson with Fisi, although Ralf>Fisi.
I don't know about Ralf over Fisi, when they were teammates at Jordan, Fisi was the faster and better driver.
True, but that was Ralf's first year. Fisi was already with Sauber or someone the year before. I think Ralf improved, Frank hired him and he was compeitive against Montoya, although Juan was quicker. Fisi on the other hand was regarded as a future hot prospect, but when he got to Renault? Oh boy did he bomb, and remember Bahrain? When he couldn't get past Trulli and Flav was really pissed and was yelling over the radio? I don't know, they both around the same level, but I would give the edge to Ralf. He won in a Williams several times while Fisi had one of the best cars on the grid for two years running and won only a couple times. Fernando thrashed him.
You have a point there, regarding Fisi winning a total of two races with a Superior Car. I just mean't that Fisi (except for Alonso) always showed a clean pair of heels to his teammates.
+1 I'd give Fisi the nod of the two. Everyone was predicting Kovalainen to be the sensation of the year not Hamilton, and yet Fisi seems to have Kova well in hand. It's too bad this years car is so poor. One things for sure though the guy who you'd want to be working on it to improve it is Fisi. If any progress is made with that car it'll be directly due to his work and not Kova's.
Whoah mate hold on. All the pre season hype was surrounding Hamilton, PERIOD. Few people were talking about Heiki, although those that were did think he was going to be something special, so you're right in that regard. I myself thought that he would beat Fisi. Also, Fisi only has him in check because Heiki really hasn't been living up to people's expectations, not even by a long shot. If Fisi didn't have him in check, then Fisi would have been fired before Bahrain because Heiki was in fact doing that bad.
