Mark and I are going to finalize the route tomorrow. So I will do a post late tomorrow afternoon. I am still trying to work out another toy deal, so the place of departure is still up in the air. We will start from either place at 9:30 A.M. on Dec 17. I will have additonal details about times etc in the post tomorrow. Glad to see so much interest. Remember concentrate on toys for males 8-12, that is what the Lady I am dealing with requested, but toys of any kind will be appreciated.

Yes, I mentioned "morning and afternoon of the 17th". I said the location(s) were still be finalized. I don't know Don which is VERY odd. I know virtually every Supra owner in the USA, especially in my backyard.

I am an admin so I stickied the thread to get more attention.

    Regards,

Thanks Tillman! Actually I have not decided yet if I should bring the fast car or the Ferrari. ;-)

Also, since I invited a lot of my Supra friends they might be a little shocked to see me in a car they don't yet know I have LOL!

Ferrari, Supra, Ferrari, Supra...what's a man to do? Life is fun!

Well, if it makes you feel better, Don knows who you are. :) LOL. Don's newer to the Supra scene. I don't know what his screen name is over there. He's got a red Supra. His cousin Tony (from Houston) actually just helped him fix his tranny.

That makes me feel good! I hope to meet him next weekend then and take a look at his Supra.

Yeah, if I put a poll up I am rather certain I know which car would win. To be honest, the Ferrari would probably win if I put the poll up on SupraForums too LOL. They have all seen my Supra 100 times at the weekend meets, National gatherings, etc.

    Dusty

New car, old car, new car, old car. The best time to drive a Ferrari is when you're surrounded by like-minded whackos. Your answer is clear.

OK! The route is set and the start point is also. We will all meet Saturday December 17 at 9:00AM at Exit 64 on I-30 at the Elgin Robertson park--this is about two miles west of the first exit for Rockwall. For all of you that participated in Tillman's Autumn Ralley it is the same starting point. We will leave at 9:30AM-maps will be provided. Mark and I and Samuel Adams found some exquisite roads and it should be a fun run. I am ironing out a few details once we arrive, but it will be a good time for all involved. The route is about 50m miles and will take approx. 1 hour. There are some interesting sights and I am sure there will be a few people, in a couple of places, that will be convinced that they just saw a bunch of UFO's. Bring lots of Toys. I will try to keep this thread at the top of the list with additional posts this week.

For those of you unfamiliar with Rowlett, here is a picture of the boat ramp where we will be meeting. For reference, the picture shows the highway as 67. It is I-30 / 67.

Wow, 91 miles from my shop to Exit 64. Where is the drop-off point exactly so I can plot the course home?

Is there going to be a car show as previously mentioned at the drop-off point? Are there any organized plans for after the car show?

Thanks for ya'll's work on this!!

That would be handy to know I was assuming we would meet in Dallas and deliver the toys to a worthwhile location this is turning into a major driving event.

Looks like everything is on track. We have at least one person coming from as far away as Houston. There are also plenty of non-fcars. The more cars and donations, the merrier. I know Don has said it, but I echo his thoughts. It is refreshing to see so many people willing to help a worthy cause, during this busy time of year.

The end point was selected based on need of the organizations (an partially due to some rules). It is located in a small town right off I-30, so it will be easy to shoot home. We are just going some nice scenic back roads from Rowlett to the drop spot, rather than boring highway. After the drop off, etc. we will grab a quick lunch (location to be announced), and then just shoot back home on I-30 to 635. That way there is a little something for everyone. Everyone will have some fun, while doing good for an organization that is struggling with donations this year.

Don can speak better to the difficulty and need, of local Dallas charity issue. The location he picked is the most in need.

Not everything is on track, weather forecast says rain and snow showers. Highs in the mid 40s and lows in the low 30s.

Doesn't sound like a Ferrari day.

BY POPULAR DEMAND HERE IS THE WHOLE SKINNY!
    A) We will meet at the park between 9 and 9:30. We can wait for a short period but we must leave close to 9:30 and no later than 9:45

    B) The route takes between 45 minutes and 1 hour depending on the gawk time. The terminus point is the Greenville Salvation Army. We need to be there no later than 10:45, we then proceed to the Church parking lot for a display of the cars from 11 to 1

    C) I have made arrangements at Chili's for us to arrive at 1:30 for eats and libations-or you may depart for home.

NOTES: I had several people express some road time with the toy donation. I also had some people express that they did not want to drive all highways to get from A to B. I had many people express a desire for the donations to go to a group that would make sure that the kids got a good Christmas. I ran into road block after road block trying to come up with a common denominator and this was the best that I could do. We can make this a small run (exercise the cars), a small show, and a big contribution to a great organization for their toy drive and we can make lots of kids have a Christmas. REMEMBER THIS WHOLE DEAL IS ABOUT THE KIDS!!!!

BY POPULAR DEMAND HERE IS THE WHOLE SKINNY--PART DEUX!!

Prior to a previous post, I have have been atuned to the weather. Being in the construction business I am keenly aware of accurate weather prognostication. Therefore I am watching U.S. Weather Bureau models rather than depending on the T.V. weather Charlatans who have about a 40% accuracy rate. It may rain this weekend if the dewpoint remains elevated and if that occurs and the cold front arrives-it may sleet!!

IF THAT IS THE CASE---RAIN, SLEET, SNOW

Then we will proceed to PLAN B, which is meet at Duke's Roadhouse in Addison, Saturday at NOON, drop off the toys in a couple of vehicles that will be there, have a burger and some beers and go home. I will then run the toy donation to the S.A. in Greenville. I have made a commitment to those people and I am honorbound. The toy donation will be made in the name of the FCA-DFW and perhaps next year the weather will be better an we can do the deal as planned.

Watch this thread and if it looks like a cancellation, I will post late Friday or very early Saturday or you may call my cell phone 469.235.5639 for info.

    Thanks, Don

That is the correct address. However they have requested that the donations not be dropped off there because of limited space. That is why the S.A. of Greenville and I have worked out a drop off spot!
