Too bad about those mouse belts. Is it me, or is the driver side bolster already showing wear ? Love the triple black on the Testarossa, very menacing !
Looks like 630 miles on the odo and 1,000 hours of someone sitting in the drivers seat going "rum, rum, rum"
Saw a Rosso one go for 55k or about that today...looked like a nice example but of course have NO idea about service records. I love when they talk about these cars and price points but leave out the fact that there is a 12k dollar Major waiting for the next owner... MB
To their credit, I was watching one of the earlier Mecum Auctions and the announcers were very complimentary of these cars (TR and 512's), their styling and relative reliability. Surprisingly, they mentioned the value curve of these cars and potential upside as these cars are at the bottom of the curve. They did talk briefly of the required on-going maintenance and of course the "major engine out" service. Overall, a positive review.
From the November issue of "Classic Motorsports" magazine: Better Buy It Now (1984-1991) Ferrari TR - "Yes, you can buy these cars for as little as $45K and that is an example with a recent service and low miles. We know that these cars are unbelievably expensive to maintain-budget $5k-$8k per year-but these Ferrari's are about to get very hot for a good reason: They're the cars so many of us had hanging on our bedroom walls. The one RM sold in Monterey for more than $200k is not likely to be an anomaly for much longer. Interesting.
