What material is supposed to be covering the dash leading edge (around the defroster vents) on the Testarossa? Looked at a car and the leather did not go all the way to the glass, but was a cloth weave type surface as the 6" +/- area between the base of the windshield and the start of the leather and I'm just checking if this is correct or not.

    Thanks

Not original -- sounds like a spliced-in "fix" applied to the "shrinking" leather problem.

Thanks, actually looked like the leather might have been cut away and this is what was left underneath. Possible? The condition of the dash from the top seam (about 4" ahead of the trailing edge) thru out the rest was good. I assume the correct mat'l is pretty avail from the search I did, but can it be re-covered in place properly without taking the dash apart?

You can build a sailing ship inside a bottle ;), but, in this case, I'd say that the dash would need to be disassembled. The stock substrate of that top panel is a very fragile plastic material and should probably be replaced too (mine was even though it was a garage queen with less than 3K miles).

If it looks decent, I'd just leave as-is and deduct $2~3K off the price.
