First things first-your avatar is downright creepy. Now with that off my chest, I too was thinking about this motor/trans set up(dont worry, finances dont permit for me to get it at this time). It is a lot of value for the money, However, I dont like the fact that he does not have any pics of the item he is selling. I would try to get some pics and a better sense of the condition of the motor/trans. With that said, I think it is worth the purchase. You will most likely get most of your money back should you decide to sell it sometime down the road.

+1 to everything Jay said (especially the no photos), but the problem is even unobtanium is valueless with no demand. I paid $1K for just 1 used injection ECU, and the ignition ECU is worth at least that, so there's $3K. Larry F. puts a core value of $1K on each KE-Jet FD, and, with Rutland's $5K core value on the gearbox, you're up to $10K -- so the engine itself is free ;)

But the trick is finding all those Buyers with those particular needs in a reasonable timeframe. If it is real, for $5K, it would be a no-brainer, but, at the $9.5K bid, you've already proven that there's no on else on the planet willing to go that high (e.g., T. Rutlands).

What was the previous BIN price?

AHHH..well if it is was your old setup then that may change things for the buying public/Kerry and assist in a faster sale and give some providendce to the motor/trans. If I remember correctly, I thought you sold it for less than $9,500.00.

Was in the roaster. Sold it on ebay last year.

Came out of an 86 us model with <40K miles.

It did run and shift well however when it came out.

Good condition and about as complete as you could get, as I even cut the harness where it enters the engine compartment so he could have as much as possible from the firewall back. I sold EVERYTHING in the engine compartment to him in regards to the engine/trans.

Here's some pics prior to removal and another.

Appears it lost some mileage and gained a year between your house and his.

Mine had greater than 40K miles. Mine was out of an 86 Us model.

Perhaps though this is a different person than to whom I sold mine to. Perhaps a totally different motor and trans.

    Mine went to Indy however.

Perhaps a wrong assumption on my part.

I do have the engine/trans SN however.

sorry, this ebay auction trips my scam meter. who would try to sell anything for just under $10k, and not have ANY pics to share? and require a $2500.00 "deposit" ? seems to me unless you can go see it in person and pay for it, the deposit would be gone.

it could also be a hijacked ebay id.

how hard is it to take some pics of an engine out of the car and show what you actually have for sale?

I agree, that was my biggest issue with the auction, no pictures of the actual items being sold.

Dealing with Europe is like opening a box of chocolates-you never know what you are going to get. Sorry to say but staying in the USA is easier and cheaper in the long run.

That may be your "opinion"..... but have you really kept track of exorbitant prices in USA ?

F.i. price for a Testarossa gearbox ( i believe $ 20.000 or 25.000!) and over "here in Europe" for about € 5.000 (with guarantee) ?

    Then we speak about chocolate...!

You can easely take the plane and fly over for that difference in price !

    expensive chocolate:

    8,500euro = 11,750usd

Import Duty = 10% (estimate for used auto parts) = 1,175usd

    Airfare = 2,000 guestimate

Transport to euro airport = 400usd

All in - figure that chocolate will cost you about 15,300usd delivered to a US international airport.

You get to pay an additional 5,800usd (60%) for the extra hassle and zip, nada, no recourse if you are ripped off.

    I like American Chocolate ;-)

    Moscow style.

    Vincenzo

Kee Vincenzo, it was just an example ..

Engine can be shipped for ± $ 400 by ship... like the many cars we import from USA by ship !

    Best of luck,

My foreign friend, it appears as though you are not familiar with how things work in this great country of ours(well mine anyway), so let me spell it out for you. There is an asking price and a selling price. I can assure you that when all is said and done, that motor won't go for anywhere near that 15k number, especially in these times. Thats the beauty of buying things here in the Good ol' US of A.

I know these people and I would be shocked if they come off that price much. Also, you should read a little closer since this is an exchange and not an outright purchase.

Reading closer on your part, you would see the "best offer'" in the auction. This will certainly allow for some wiggle room and better terms, or he will be looking at that motor in his shop for a very long time. I do agree with you however that, that particular seller always seems to think his parts are worth their weight in gold and not very flexible on pricing, based on past experience.

I've dealt with these guy before and they think someone will always come along who will pay the price. This engine has been for sale for at least a year, because I bought the intake system off of it to put on my 91 TR. The fact that the price is conditioned on a usable core is really a screwing, especially since what you see is not what your going to get. I agree they should come off on this a lot, but I bet they won't.
