Hello, quick question. When comparing the engine number to see if it was the original engine to that body, what other numbers are you comparing it with and where are they located on a TR.

    TIA

There is no direct correlation between the engine SN and any other number on the car (namely the vehicle VIN, the gearbox SN, and the assembly number)--four different numbers. So there are no "matching numbers" to look for. The easiest way to verify is to look on the warranty card page inside the "Owner's Warranty and Service Book" which will list the VIN and the engine SN. Failing that a Ferrari dealer can look up the VIN and see what engine SN was originally installed.

From the internet! It was posted in a thread here last year (the Miami Vice car thread) so I provide it as an example.

No, I assume that's what a dealer can pull by VIN--I have never tried.
