TR - floor material

Hello - I am just starting to consider an early TR and in seeing a few cars thusfar, have a question that I figured this forum could help answer. Under the floor mats in the TR (1986), what was the factory material / design? What I've seen on one car is a gray soft foam material with some support brackets, not simply a hard floor over which the floor mat is placed. For whatever reason, this seemed to me to not be a factory-type design, so I am curious to know from others if this is correct or perhaps evidence of something odd having happened. Thanks.
