    Good day

Am doing an head re-torque on my 87 TR with the engine in place. Have started with the left bank. Whilst is a bit of a pain since there is not much space and my torque wrench has a long arm, am now stuck for good on the front two head bolts (number 13 and 14 on the WSM). There is not enouch space between head and the oil tank to insert the torque wrench. Am using the Ferrari AV 1393 head wrench.

Any idea ? Any other shorter L shaped wrench available ?

    Tks
    Gianni

sorry - can't answer your question...

But please advise if you backed off the bolts by a few turns before re-tightening.

Were any of the bolts loose ?

    Any other anomalies?

    Thanks for sharing,
    Vince

    Ciao Vincenzo

I did back off the nuts abt 20 to 30 Deg before re-tightening.

    No bolt were loose.

Do re-tourque the head cause of small coolant leak.

Here's the story : had the rads re-cored this winter and car sat more than 2 months without water in the heads. Upon re-installing the rads, re-filled and bled the system, all was working fine (altought did not drive the car). Fun cycled on and off etc. After few days got drop of coolants out of the left bank, which, however seem to have stopped by itself few days later. Before getting the block on the floor wanted to re-torque the head to see if the leak is gone for good or what. Do hope the gasket got dry during the 2 months without water and small amount sipped out after the firts start. If not, well, am in for an head gasket change.

Do you know if the oil tank can be removed with engine in ?

    Best

You may be able to move the tank enough to get to the head bolts. There is either one or two bolts holding the tank in. The third mounting is a pin that the tank can be pulled up from.
