Anyone know about this? My mechanic says that pretty much the entire interior has to come out to fix it... seat, center console, carpet... Seems excessive even for a Ferrari.

    Dear Ferraristi,

The heater hose from the engine to the HVAC?

If so, that's the easy part. The hose comes from the engine to under the center of the car and makes to the front under the RIVETED BELLY PAN to just where the center console mets the lower gauges. In that small area are both heater hoses and AC lines. Taking out the seats, part of the center console, side panels on the console is easy and fast. It will be undoing the rivits on the belly pan which will be difficult.

I was actually thinking of replacing the hoses on mine for preventitive maintenance in the near future. I couldn't see any way around the belly pan issue. The 512TR (according to Jimbo) has the center part covering the hoses screwed on....easy on, easy off.

    Anyone done this?

When we did the last major on my 1992 tr. We disconnected the heater hose line at the valve under the passenger feet and used the old heaterhose to pull new hose thru. I think the old hose was about 5/8 and we replaced with 1/2 to make pulling easier. Heats just fine with the thinner hose

    For a 1990, 26 year old TR:

The search engine wasn't too helpful.

I am debating preventative maintenance and the replacement of the heater hoses which run within the central tunnel (engine to heater core).

Can these be reasonably pulled through with new OEM size hose?

Any helpful diy threads out there?

    Many Thanks,
    Vincenzo

Is anything "easy" on a TR? ;)

Didn't do it myself, but had Moorespeed replace mine at my last major a few years ago (the return line end connection in the engine bay had failed and the first inner ~6" going up that hose looked pretty manky). Be careful about the hose "polarity" if you do this job -- the hot water valve in the passenger footwell will only seal properly if the flow direction matches the arrow on the valve body.

Did mine, last major. Replaced with 5/8 green stripe Gates heater core hose. For sure mark the inlet and return for hose polarity. R/H center console panels need to come off, and pass metal foot rest panel also. With a flashlight you should see the 2 hoses connected to the heater core valve. From the rear of the car, pull 1 hose line at a time, double checking hose polarity. When I had both hoses out, took some vaseline and lubed up each new hose, start feeding from rear to forward of car. Really not that big of a deal.

I replaced all water hoses and changed them to black silicone hoses. looks not original ( I don´t care on my competition about originality because nearly nothing on my car is original anymore ) but easy to remove again because they are very flexible

    Guys - you're all GREAT!

    That link is PERFECT.

Looks like i have no excuse to bypass a new set of heater hoses!

    Thanks again to you all!

    Happy New Year,
    Vincenzo
