At TDC on #1 both cams on the left bank want to but the exhaust more forcefully than the intake. All have positions where one valve is on a closing or opening ramp and wanting to turn forward or backward depending. On the 12 cyl cams every position is near equilibrium. Not quite but close. On a V6 with 4 cams every cam goes through a cycle of fully opening and closing one valve, coasting a few degrees then doing it again.

Depends on the skill level of the mechanic. Poor preparation gives poor results. Seeing a specialist often puts problems to bed before they start. No one does it better than the guy who owns it. When its your money...

Some owners are very good mechanics. Many are not and should leave it to others.

Brian: it not says "F dealer = good quality", it says "......F dealer = good quality" and those "......" say the same as vincenzo has written. so I think it is only a missinterpreting because we both know it works all over the world with the dealers, not only F dealer.

That's the owners decision. They know their limits.

And i will bet every thing on your TR is right on the marks. Can't beat doing the job yourself. You then know it is done right.

I have had someone once offer their (slightly ratty) paddle shift 430 in a straight trade for my TR. No thanks, I would keep the TR every day. The TR sounds fantastic and feels engaging to operate on public roads at 'public' speeds; the 430, well, uh, I don't really remember my drive in it, I may have fallen asleep.

Had a 360 Spider for a few years. Nice car, but just a car.

Had the tr for 24 years now. Its an icon. Every drive is epic.

I agree but I'm biased. We have only had it for 21 years I think.

The belts on my car were 15 years old (2006) when the Major was done was recently. Car had only done about 1000 km since 2006, but still.

Belts stretch and dry rot over-time, but I think the 5 years intervals are mainly to ensure low mileage cars don't have rot, seized bearings, etc. Willing to bet if the car is used frequently, the intervals could be longer.
