Its a great sign, buyers @ $35 sellers @ $65 and no more movement,$55 buys a great TR and that price, which was aug08 price is 20% better than DOW.

Like to see it, but your optimism seems a little over-the-top -- yeah, having one arm cut off instead of two is better, but that's not exactly desirable ;)

I guess it's just a matter of time when we'll be able to buy one for the price of a major?

"Pay for the major and we throw the car in" wait wait.... "buy the seats, the spare tire and the owners manual set and I'll throw in the car"

    What's this world coming too?

I love Ferrari! Willis says that far fewer TRs are coming on the market now,$4 gas just about killed them into the $30,000 ie 2v 308 range,a TR or a 308? Thats is a no brainer for a somebody that has had one Car or another for 30yrs.Would CarGuy sell his Car today for $40 "cause thats the market"? You could get a really good TR in aug 08 for $55,the Dow was @ 11? Well the Dow is 7500 and TRs should be $40.I would like one, thanks

some how the price of a major is going up higher and higher. Where does it end? are there F cars out there that are just not worth to be service anymore? soon they should just sell the TR to look at rather than driving it.
    This is very very sad.

You find a well maintained (i.e., service records to date, less than 20k miles, no accidents etc) TR in the low 40's, then send me a PM. My money is on the fact that you won't find it.

I agree. The "experts" claiming low $40's don't own one that they'd sell for that.

I just assisted in the sale of an 87 Euro TR, 20K miles, overall excellent condition. Sold well above that. Buyer and seller both pleased with the transaction. Market is not at a standstill for the good ones. Ferrari of Denver recently sold a similar one for $50K as well.

Good for you! we need more people like this to keep the value up.
the problem is not how little these cars are worth, is how desperate the sellers are trying to cash out on something that they should not own at the first place.

    Kenneth,
You are exactly correct. The plunging values are really based on the sellers desparate need to raise cash, not the cars inherent value.I would never wish anyone any ill will and I'm sorry that they have been forced to sell at bargain basement pricing, but once those cars are "flushed out" the good cars will maintain thier value and prices will rise. This unfortunate economic climate has not been kind to the TR,a great car whos only flaw is the fact they Ferrari made too many of them.

I guess anyone can ASK what they want, but why even bother posting such a price? I'll bet off that post you will get 10-12 people waiting in line to buy it. Do you live in Quebec or Ontario?

Mids 40's are here and coming...

A year ago I said lows 50's and people said the same thing......

    Tex knows the real deal

I don't believe so... and neither did the other one that just sold. But they were both very solid cars. No stories, and in very good overall condition.

    What about the buyers?
Were they folk set on getting a good TR?

With that type the good TR isn't competing with several alternative choices they could make and the sale isn't effected by a generally soft market.
Whereas a buyer who'd be happy to get a TR or a Porsche or what ever is a different proposition all together.

Not all TR are solid condition, full history specimens and they are in a much softer situation if the seller is motivated.

Newport Beach Ferrari has a 1991 Black on Black Testarossa that is as new, 500 miles! US $190,000.00 and probably not that far off the money. Cars like this do not come on the market that often. Let's not be mistaken there are still buyers out there. If they want a particular car and that is their passion they will achieve the ambition. Hey with next to no interest why doesn't everybody drive an F50..... at least for a week?

In this condition 50k$ US is a good price and I can say that I am happy with the price I paid last fall in Canada for a car with a fresh major.
I bought a driver not garage queen.

I just saw an 87 TR in Hemmings (auction results section) 6K mile car sold for 79K. Having just purchased one less than a year ago, for 40 or 50 your going to get a well driven car that needs attention. If you want a low mile pristine example your going to have to pay for it. You truly get what you pay for. However, I am sure there is an awesome deal here or there if you can find someone in severe finacial distress

People continue to confuse sellers in unrelated financial distress with "the market". That is the market for distressed sellers, perhaps, but certainly cannot be extrapolated to all of the good cars that might be offered....many of which sell behind the scenes.
