Hey TR folks I recently procured replacement mouse belt tracks, and they arrived disassembled like this. I cannot seem to get the two parts to connect, i.e., the lower half will not seat into the upper receptacle and lock in place. I can't find anything online about getting them apart or putting them together, so I was wondering if anyone else has experience with this setup. Additionally, I am not sure whether the recall on this car has been done, although I did put the VIN into the Ferrari recall database and it did not show any open recalls. Is that database up to date for older cars like an 87 TR? Thanks for your help! Todd Image Unavailable, Please Login
Unfortunately that is broken. The tabs are fragile and it is a weak design. You'll need to build a support when you install it. I will check to see which version of the tracks you have.
Many of those have been fixed at factory expense even though it is not an open recall. They had such an astronomical failure rate Ferrari has some serious liabilities. I'd call FNA in New Jersey with your VIN ready, tell them yours do not work and see what they say. They will not up front offer to replace them but a dealer visit may bring that about as an outcome. I know many owners that have had them repaired free outside of the normal recall.
I checked. You have the updated version of the ribbon. Your motor covers should be zinc plated not painted. Don't worry about the broken plastic. Most are broken. You can make a hidden brace for it (bottom of post #7): https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/how-to-fix-the-mouse-belt.634953/
