TR new owner new issue

OK I am driving be it 5 min or 1 hr, so the car is to temp. I am cruising around town and I shift from say 3rd to 2nd and the RPM's just go all the way down to 1K and the car stalls. I pop the clutch and it starts back up again? Am I driving it wrong (alowing the RPM to drop with out shifting) or is it the car granted it was my first real drive with the car and I am getting used to it however I would think the RPM would just go down to idle and the car would not stall? Previous owner complained that the idle was a bit lower since the major would that have anything to do with it?

Thanks, just got off the phone with my shop. I will be at the all Italian show in Brookline - 89 Red Black TR and a 88.5 Red Tan 328 GTS that my wife and or father will be driving up. Looking forward to meeting you. Andrew
