Can someone help me with the proper oil pressure reading for the TR when the engine is at normal operating temperature? Or any other suggestions based on the problem I am having which is detailed below. Thanks in advance. PD

Background: A few days ago the oil pressure light on my 1988.5 TR came on after the car had been idling for about 10 minutes. The oil pressure gauge is reading 85 psi when the car is first started and drops to the first hash mark on the left when the car is warm. If I had to guess it is showing around 62 psi when warm which appears to be fine. A few days ago my upper radiator hose broke and spewed antifreeze all over the front of engine so I am thinking that the antifreese has probably fowled the connector on the "low oil" light sensor. Any ideas or advice would be appreciated.

If the analog gauge was still reading its usual value (i.e., a resonable non-zero value) when the warning light came "on", it must be an electrical gremlin.

"The oil pressure gauge is reading 85 psi when the car is first started and drops to the first hash mark on the left when the car is warm." is very similar to my TR's OP gauge behavior (with 10W40 oil).

Preston - a common problem. My idiot light has been intermittently coming on despite normal operating (analog gauge) pressure. This has been occuring for several years. I actually don't mind, as it brings my attention to the oil pressure (analog) gauge. Someday, perhaps, maybe, sometime or other, I may fix it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. It sounds like I have a defective OP warning sensor. pd
