greetings comrades.I'm new to ferrarichat, new Ferrari owner.Thanking you in advance for any help you can offer. Can anyone offer assistance with the procedures involved in replacing the rear window in a TR? Mine is cracked, which I understand is the result of previous owner jacking-up the car improperly....Thanks

Welcome, and very sorry to hear. This is definitely a learning point for all of us; it never occurred to me that improperly jacking a car could do this to the rear glass. Stay put, your answer is on its way.

Back windows break in them anyway. The chassis are flexible and we go in and out of driveways at as extreme angles as we can in an effort to keep from dragging the spoiler. That flexes the chassis quite a bit. Mine has never been jacked as you mention and it still broke. I have a new glass but as yet have not replaced it. I am told a lexan unit is available for quite a bit less than glass and should not break. You might consider going that way.

Thanks guys for responding.Wow,I'm sorry to hear that simply driving the car can crack the window.....that does raise concern.I do have a new rear window in the box,but perhaps I'll not install it just yet.Lexan scratches so easily...what do you think about plex(admittedly a bit more fragile than lexan)?
Still interested in the procedures for removing the glass....thanks again.

I opted for OE glass because of the scratching issue but also to keep it original (I have a problem that way). I am just hoping stresses when originally installed was a contributory factor in breaking the original one and am keeping my fingers crossed because they ain't cheap.

rifledriver,I'm in total agreement with you,the cars should be kept 100% original. My car is unmolested and I intend to keep it that way.I'm aware of the costs of these rear windows(ouch!)just as you are,but with my luck I'll crack the new one leaving my driveway!!! I sure don't want to modify the car,but I've got to be realistic about the costs.I suppose I could just leave the cracked window in,but driving the car with such an obvious flaw doesn't appeal to me either.....life is full of difficult choices.....

We shipped 2 TR rear glasses last week -- one to Florida, one to Michigan. Sadly, it's more common that you'd think.

Thanks for the words of encouragement.

Think maybe I should put another in stock?
