TR rear windsheild

Hi Raptr, I also need rear glass for my 512TR - the same part number as yours incidentally. When I removed the engine of my car a week ago, I could see the window up close, by er, standing in the engine bay. It's held in by 'kit' as we say where I live, it appears to be a kind of black silicone sealant. The best is to first remove the rear deck lid completely. Ask a couple of friends to help you as it's heavier than you think; loosen the hinge bolts; remove the press-on struts by pulling them off after levering loose the clips near their bases - tip, don't lever the clips off completely as it's a struggle to get them back onto the struts again - then remove the hinge bolts completely; and hey presto your friends can lift the deck clear.

Next, just pull off the press-on rubber water seal, and probably the black panel above the coolant hoses (I'm assuing you have one of these, as in the 512TR). This will give access to the rear side anyway, and I'm certain the window goes in from the rear. Although your window man may curse you when he gets a sore back leaning over so far. I reckon your guy will make a hole through the seal and use a tool, or wire pushed through to break the seal all the way round and pull out the old one. Have a look on the inside to see if you need to remove any interior panels to help with access on that side or to avoid getting things marked with any glass fragments that fall off or whatever.

Remember to protect both rear wings/fenders from the guy(s) leaning over and possibly scratching the paintwork with belts, zippers, or whatever. Use a couple of towels, blankets, or proper wing/fender protectors that stick on with suction cups. And don' forget to buy the window guy a big beer and a massage for his aching back. Good luck.
