Yes it's been a looong time since both the car has been on the road and I have been active on the board, especially as one of the very early members...4 years ago the TR needed it's major service, however I was focusing all of my time and effort into a new business and so I left it up on the lift above the Rover....While I loved the car, I was the second owner since 2000, after the last major it jest never ran great. It was always hunting at idle, exhaust smelled rich, leaked fluids, and was not the most reliable. Overall I had more fun driving my full size Range Rover....The wife continued to nag me...fix the car and sell it and get something else or enjoy it but do something...

Business was going well, and I figured I better do something...I called Jim McGee up at Pocono Sportscar who before I put the car away I was introduced to by Bruce Wellington...Those that don't know Jim and own a TR, you should...If you have a US TR he touched it when it first came to the country as he did the PDI's when he worked at FNA in NJ and probably knows more about the TR's then anyone else out there...

I had the TR trucked up to Jim and within a few day's he and his fantastic staff had the engine out and the engine bay scrubbed clean...The whole process to a bit longer then originally expected however a few items that Jim's team found like the water pump bearing and both axle seals required parts that were not right on the shelf...

I drove up to the Pocono's yesterday to pick the TR up with mixed feelings...will I still love the car or will I drive it home and put it up for sale...?

The TR was parked out front and it looked as it did when I first purchased it and won every event it was entered in.....they did a fantastic detailing with a wonderful coat of wax, and the wheels looked showroom...

The weather was fantastic so both windows were down, traffic was light on the back roads...The TR ran so well...no more hunting, no more foul smell, my Fuchs exhaust was animalistic sounding...it was tight, not a degree off center when the brakes were applied...gear selection was not notchy, Overall the car ran and looked like it was the day I bought it...the way a TR should be....

The guy who did the major last time had been a very reputable independent, however he screwed the pooch on this one, and all we did was chase our tail fixing one symptom only to have something else pop up...

Jim did not treat this as a restoration...he treated it as a major service, however he goes further then most both in his knowledge and what he inspects....

The TR may just have become a joy to own again...I guess I will know over the next few months...

As for testimonials...I have used dealers and independents over the years, however for the TR, and unless I have a Ferrari under warranty, it would be going up to Jim's team at Pocono Sportscar....

If you need storage space so the wife won't nag you -- let me know.

I'll even give it an Italian tune up from time to time :)

I was lucky enough to be at Jim's a few weeks ago to have my Testa tweaked and saw that yours was on the lift with the lump out.......I traced an outline of your belly pan that encloses the fuel tanks and pumps in order to replicate a new one for my car.......Just thought I oughta say ...Thanks!!

Kerry..I almost was offended about touching my belly...ha...

The car is running really nicely...could not be more pleased...I was going to take it down the shore this WE, but looks like some on and off rain, and I must say the detail was too nice for me to get it wet just yet...haha
