my 1990 TR driver's seat only moves forwards/backwards with the manual lever. the three buttons on the side of the seat don't work. i knew this when i bought the car, and at first the seat position was fine, but after putting some miles on the car, i would like to fiddle with the seat. i am technically challenged so i'm not sure where to start. any help would be greatly appreciated.

ps. this is my first attempt at DIY maintenance on a ferrari!

    John,
Hate to say it, but perhaps your expectations are too high.... Mine (a 1990) also never worked very well. As I recall, they are cable operated and not too functional of a design. I've just learned to ignore it. Got the seat where I like it and and leave it be.

What the heck - the car is fast. Who needs seat buttons anyway ;-)

Anybody else out there have TR seat buttons that work effectively??

Wish I could offer better on this one,
    Vince

    Mine do.
They are cable operated and if you adjust them properly they will work just fine.

is this something i can do as DIY? i have a variety of metric and non-metric tools. will i be removing the seat? i would love to do this myself rather than send it to the dealer.

    any help is greatly appreciated.

Remove the seat and flip it over and have a look. It is pretty self explanatory.

    very easy
as a brief introduction to the testarossa seat mechanisms, just have a look at the cable system that operate the brakes on any men's 10 speed bike

it actually nothing more than that

IF you take your seats our that would be a great opportunity to get clean everything outof the car and condition them well
