Having just completed my third engine-out(uneventful), I've somehow messed up or possibly even disconnected my input shaft internally(is that possible?).
I cannot seem to find R/1, 2/3, 4/5 by pushing or twisting the input shaft. The shaft will push in and out and slightly turn lft and rt. I'm not familiar with the internal orientation of the gearbox, though I have the WSM. How can I locate the gears by hand with the input shaft?..... Am I going about this all wrong?
Gawd, I hope I've explained this correctly.
    Chris.

    Shamile,
When I read this thread title I could just imagine the expression on your face.
After reading the horror story you had I would hate to even go near mine. Leave it to a good mechanic is what I say.
BTW did you ever get yours shifting perfectly, I can't remember?

    Dear Ferraristi,

    Hey Sheemer...

With the great help of Dr Ferrari (Jim McGee of Pocono SportsCar ) I got the shift linkage and turnbuckle adjustment just right....well, we'll see after the clutch gets put back in.

When I had the "wandering gear selector", Tom Tbakowsky really came to my rescue there.

Just trying to get my clutch quotes together and ship the thing out.

It could have been real trouble had I not marked the threads. After sifting thru piles of notes and pictures during my engine-out, I found that I actually marked and counted the threads on each side of the turnbuckle during linkage removal.
Smart move on my part I guess.
    The rest was easy.

P.S. Shamile, thanks for the offer to help, you're very kind.

Great. Now we have to listen to stories about the mythilogical gravity defying doors on the Lambo the somehow miraculously increase the gravitational field surrounding women's under garments. But only thos undergarments as worn by tall thin blondes of the species...

Who let him out? Until he gets that TR back on the road, I am tempted to put him on ignore...;)

    Dear Ferraristi,

Boy, I'm on the Lambo board helping with some technical issues....and what do I miss? :D

Yeah, I have been driving the Lamborghini while the TR is down. Actually, that's why I have both cars so I can always drive an exotic while I'm working on the other one.

Both cars are absolute daily drivers.

Honestly, the Diablo is the coolest car ever. The VT Roadster is the most extroverted and bling bling of all the Diablos. It has the wildest lines and with only a couple hundred built....is a true show stopper.

While the TR is the most extravagant Ferrari built....and the reason why it's the only Ferrari I'll drive, it still looks like a "nice conservative" car sitting next to the Diablo.

I thought I would be used to the attention since I didn't think it could be any more than the TR....on boy....not even close. Going to the gas station is an event....camera phones flashing....questions abound from the group of people surrounding the car. The Diablo is really on a whole different level. A Lamborghini is a car you heard of but have never seen in real life.....yes, the design really takes your breath away.

A Diablo...I believe has been the last design in the "excess 80's " school of thought. Everything now is well....boring....all technical and efficient but where's the outrageousness?

Add to that and I'm really comfortable in the driving position in the car.....very much to my liking.

    BUT....

If you think your TR is expensive to maintain ( still most expensive Fcar to maintain ) it's nothing compared to the Diablo. My VT Roadster is almost 100% more than the TR in maintenance cost....yes, yes....no belts but everything else is through the roof. I just had to replace 1 computer (one of 3) at $6K ea. last month. I had to replace the headers and exhaust last year....$11.5K. Even simple things like a door striker....$150.00 ea.

...but the car has no equal....so it's not going anywhere. I really I don't mind paying the premium ( I keep telling myself that :) )

....and the TR's not going anywhere either....why else would I keep putting up with the avalanche of issues I'm getting. :)

....already there my friend. The white linen suit is at the dry cleaners so....the black silk shirt is calling the shots.

It's always my pleasure to try and help.

That's a technical way of saying it but.....

    I like....

....oh..."giggle"....where did my panties go....oh....there they are....stuck on my stelletos.."Tee-Hee". If I pull them back up....I'll mess up my beautiful long hair......Shamile must be around ! I'll ask him for his help.

WHEN THE DOORS GO UP....THE PANTIES GO DOWN!

Good point about the tall thin blondes part. Next to the active suspension switch on the dash, there's the hot thin blonde "only" selector....make sure it's properly set or Newman wont' have anything to pull up when he's taking pictures of himself on his outdoor can. :D

This is my signature on the main Lambo forum, LP:

" A Diablo is like a hot tall thin blonde. Sooooo seductive, you just keep putting up with her crap. Whether buying her high-heels or headers, you know she costs you a fortune.....but riding her......oh soooo good!"

    ....oh and of course...."Freeze....Miami Vice ! " :)

Ignore?!?!......wait till your tachometric relay acts up. :D
