I need to know the recommended torque value for the splines for the early TR. I'm not talking about the big nut that holds the wheel to the car (the 325 lb/ft one). I'm talking about the six small nuts that hold the spline itself to the back of the wheel.

I got new tires this week, but the tire place removed the splines from the wheels because they wouldn't fit their balancing machine with the splines in place. Now I need to put them back on and I want to make sure the torque is right on the nuts.

They seem to have Nylok type locking nuts on them and they were obviously painted at one point with the paint that either indicates they've been torqued, or maybe it was some type of Loc-tite compound.

    Thanks!

This is a good question. When I restored my TR wheels I just used the gorilla method and got 'em good-n-tite! I did tighten in the usual lug nut sequence in the "star" pattern. I've never had any problems so far and it's been 2 years and 8k miles.
