Fantastic shot, Steve, of the engine and belts. I've never seen a "naked," Boxer engine. Thank you for sharing. Dane

Very cool. Looks like you are taking care of some leather shrinkage while you are at it. Nice work!

Does your shop allow you any bench time with the motor out to do any detailing? I have not found a shop that would allow this and needless to say, I don't want to pay their hourly labor to have them detail the engine assembly while out...

While you have the engine out have you considered or are you planning on replacing the vent hoses and fuel tank cross-over hoses that are accessible with the engine out? My Dad's 87 just had an engine out service and we replaced the original cotton braided vent and fuel lines. Our car had a fairly major fuel leak which is now fixed with new modern fuel lines. Supposedly the new fuel lines stand up to modern fuels better too. What all are you doing to the car/ engine while its apart and where are you having it done?

New fuel lines...you bet. All rad and oil lines new. Anything that flexes will be replaced. This is a standard 5 year eng out deal. New cam and accessory belts. H2O pump seal, set valves, replace brake lines and new brake discs, and a whole bunch of things that I dont know about. Svc being done by Brian Crall's shop in San Ramon, Ca. Does your dad let you drive the TR?

Sounds like your service will be exactly like ours! Yes, now that everything is fixed we've been driving it quite a bit. We just now finally had our seat belt recall performed and everything works beautifully. Have you driven yours yet?

Have driven it only once and was much easier than I anticipated. Pick it up about the 8th and my second drive will be 315 miles up the central valley of cal. Should be about 4.5 hours. Hope all goes well. ss
