What is the best place to get 18" wheels that are on a 512tr? I have been looking on ebay, but no help there. Also, are spacers necessary for a '91 TR to go to 18" wheels. Does anybody know the offset? Thanks, Alex 91 TR
Thanks for the comments. My new baby! 1988 November build. 12000 miles. UK delivered and two owners. I flew to England from Australia last week, collected her and put her in a big steel box, homeward bound. Will arrive early December and then I have to go through all the compliance hassles. I bought the wheels from Keith at Eurospares UK. He arranged to have the new tyres fitted also so I could put them straight on. Hill's Engineering manufacture the correct spacer kit which comes complete with the longer wheel bolts. All nicely chromed to a great standard. Here's a pic bolting them on, and you can see the difference between the old and the new. Image Unavailable, Please Login
Just a note on the above. Eurospares manufacture a reproduction 512TR wheel. Absolutely beautiful quality and no issues at all. Comes complete with the centre caps. Anyone worried about balance? Well the guys who fitted my tyres were not able to balance them as they didn't fit on the machine?? So I fitted up the wheels and tyres with no balance, fearing the worse. After a few miles I gave it some stick, and apart from a very, very light vibration at 170mph there was nothing at all, right up to 184 mph where I ran out of road. Tyres are Michelin Pilot Sport Cup II. So a combination of the world's best tyres and these reproduction wheels. Verdict? Fantastic and thoroughly recomended.
Are those wheels genuine or replicas? They look spot on! Also the first two pics dont look like Rossa Corsa, the paint looks alot deeper. What wax did u use?
They are the Eurospares reproduction wheels fitted with the Hills Engineering spacer kit. They are an exact copy of the 512TR wheel in every way and the quality is awesome.
I have the O/E 512 split rim wheels on mine but cannot add a picture(Not good with puters!) There are some pics on my website that a mate runs for me if you want to take a look. They are the best wheels for the car imo and were fitted with the Hill engineering spacer kit. www.sonicracingr1.co.uk.
If anyone is interested, I will be selling a set of chrome plated factory 512tr wheels that I just removed from my car. pm me if you are interested.
Very nice Steve. 512TR rims on an M. Much better than the original 512M wheels with the weird shaped spokes.
Steve U only now need to change the front and rear spoilers and the headlamps to get the full 512tr effect. Go on you know the 512tr look is the best.......
