MY TR starts without fail when its cold. When its warm, I've only got about a 50:50 chance of it starting until I let it cool down. Problem is that it doesn't happen all the time, and the condition goes away after a few minutes, so its hard to localize.

I thought it was the ignition at first, so I changed the two ignition modules. Is this a starter problem?

I would appreciate any help on this before I go to the mechanic.
    Thanks,
    David

Does the starter spin? If so, does it sound normal? If it does, you may have a fuel delivery problem, like vapor lock.

(That's my long-distance sightless and soundless diagnosis!)

When I turn the key, nothing happens, not even a click. Thanks ;)

Most likely starter solenoid -- at least that's the first event in the chain so you've got to start there (but IMO it's more cost effective to just replace the solenoid rather than invest in additional diagnosis). Do a search here and at the old site on "TR starter solenoid" -- many (including myself) have reported your exact symptom.

I ran into this exact problem mid summer. There are some recent threads about humidity levels and heat and loose electrical connections at the starter. I tightened up the connections at the starter and haven't had the problem since.
