I see option code TRCA on the list for the speciale. Does anyone know what this does or have details on the option / have it on their car?

I need to submit spec on monday and wondering if this will replace the go pros and combine with telemetry features in a quality way.

    never mind, found it:

    TRACK CAMERAS
This optional equipment, which has to be ordered
additionally to the Telemetry kit, includes the
installation of two high-resolution cameras, connected
to the Telemetry kit, in the car’s cockpit.
The cameras are installed to film the track (inside the
interior mirror) and the driving position (in the rear
    window bezel inside the cockpit).
Thanks to this equipment it’s possible to re-watch the
driver’s performance, analysing the racing line, the
braking points and the driving technique as well as
combine the exported videos of the Ferrari Telemetry
Kit application with the registered telemetry data.
The driving sessions’ registrations can be displayed in
the car or exported in video format onto a USB stick or
    via a WiFi hotspot.

Cool option but it's not cheap.

A couple of the FNA demo Speciales have this option. I sat in one at Sonoma but didn't get pics.

Apparently the "telemetry" software is loaded on every car, and usable. (It's a data logger, not telemetry, but will leave that alone).

I was actually impressed with the camera setup. The rear-most camera is hidden in a nice console at the back of the headliner above the rear window with a small lens, this camera captures the wide-angle of the driver and the road ahead. There is also a camera in the mirror housing facing straight ahead (along with the light and rain sensor), so the packaging is actually quite nice. I was expecting a couple bullet cameras mounted....

having said that, if you are going to track your car, there are additional/alternative data loggers and video systems, just ask Peter Krause. I was impressed enough to want to add this to our spec, but it was too late - and now I'm glad I didn't spend $6K.

Just a short update about cameras. My car was delivered for a misunderstanding, with a telemetry but without cameras. I ordered them as a backorder and they finally arrived. I will let them to install the cameras next week. So I just want to inform that it does exist this possibility ..

Just trying to bring this thread back since I want to ask a few questions for those that have the factory installed track camera option on their Speciale, have you used it at the track and what do you think of it?

Is it easier to use when you are at the track and does it sync with the on board telemetry as well as download easily to a USB stick? Also is it worth the price now that you have it or would you just get the GoPro if you have to do it again?

    Thanks for your input.

I've used it many times. But first you have to make the system learn the track. Ferrari has only 3 tracks loaded in the system. Once it learns and records your track, then it's pretty much easy, to start the telemetry and video recording. PC version of the telemetry software is somehow not very user-friendly. Whereas iPad version is easier to use but then you stick with a small screen. Once you learn how to use it it's a nice system but IMO it needs to be developed and refined further. Plus the video, is not really HD. For that kind of money, one expects a bit more.

What if you want to record on the street or back roads, for example, when doing a drive with the local club, can you do you plain video recording without telemetry?

Yes and No. AFAIK, you can't just video record when your are driving around on normal roads which are not in the database. In other words, video and telemetry has to work together. But what you can do is you can create/record open-end tracks for your favorite roads, unlike closed tracks where as start and finish points are the same.

I have this system and have used it for a street rally. It filmed the entire drive. almost 4 hours. I do agree it is a little cumbersome to use.

Agree, but it seems like a costly option despite being not very user friendly.

I specced it on my Speciale which is due at the dealer in April. I'll give a full report on the camera and telemetry system once I get my Speciale out on the track.

Does anyone else consider Ferrari consumer electronics installed to be less than State of the Art?
    Example is Ferrari Navigation

Greetings from London. I'm glad to have stumbled on this thread. We're running a Speciale with the 'telemetry' package (not true telemetry as it's really just data logging) and have a few issues which we hope to resolve today testing it at Silverstone.

I agree with you MuratC, the PC software is not up to much. We cannot get the program to recognise the GPX file the car generates. The iPad app is OK, but still limited. And I agree with you as well Finitele, it's not that their electronics are bad, but...

Hope to be able to report back with more info later today.
