I headed out with Rog today to see him roll around QR in the 996 Cup Car, the 430 came along as well for a run. In a nutshell, hot as hell, tyre temps up around the 70 degree mark.......... Ran 1.24's in the 430 and 1.17's in the Cup Car (Full Circuit), 1.03.4's with me in the F430 on Clubman Circuit, 58.3 in the Cup Car on Clubman Circuit...... Rog will elaborate more on the day, i have a couple of vids to come also, although i attempted to get in-car footage but my video camera kept shutting down due to the temps in car (50-60 degree's) so i had to do hand held in the 430, sorry for the jerkiness........... Two pics on the end are of Rob Sherrads 962 and of Bob Hamilton's M3 Powered FJ Holden, just a crazy peice of engineering (4yr build) Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
just going to have a nap now , that cup car is hard to drive fast . i am looking forward to cooler weather , car should go harder and the temp inside the cab more bearable
no flies on me... that why there's a wet stain in my trousers. stephens is at PI today doing sprints too... claims to have done a 1.44.5, and still reeled off a dozen excuses...... can't find web data yet for him.
Yes, he said his brakes mob "accidentally" fitted a tandem bias adjustable pedal box... easy accident to happen I guess! Removed the ABS though.. he'll miss that. tyre costs will triple.... just like the new Porsche cup cars. Gave him a wing setting tip via sms that pleased him! Oil pressure drama last I heard though.......
To compare against the Cup Cars that have run on the circuit, the 2nd race of the '05 round held there is Here
Thanks for that, like chalk and cheese though, in the middle of winter vs 37.8 degrees air temp today, Rog was running old tyres, old brakes etc etc, and it was his 2nd full hitout in the car, and those guys i would say have a tad bit more experience at steering Cup Cars..............
look it's not fair to throw those times at him yet, but basically, until he can do a session of 10 laps with an average laptime of about 1.15, racing is out the question. Conditions are not negotiable, you must race in whatever is there. 14's would have been good today I'd guess, but there's time.....
Here are the vids.................. http://www.zippyvideos.com/8749853013578596/f430_outlap_qr_incar/ http://www.zippyvideos.com/2613426763578156/996_cup_car_qr/
The same car in the first race, from the standing start, and only one lap done till it went ballerina style was a 1.20 Here
Actually the question in my mind is whether there was a problem switching from the LHD Porsche to the RHD Ferrari and back again? That too could impact the times...
Would be nice to have that FJ in the garage Btw, do you know if Bob Hamilton is originally from Delungra (nth west NSW)?
Beamaphile, dunno about Bob, he has lived near me for the past 10 yrs that i can remember (Bayside area of Brisbane).... prior to that i don't know sorry..... I have more pics of the FJ if you want to see them!
Yeah, thanks would like to see more pics of the FJ. Also, if you can ask around if Bob is from Delungra, would appreciate it. If he's got a sister called Michelle, I knew him many moons ago. If it is the same guy, he used to have one of the first GT HO Fords.
Was the 962 was about 3-7 seconds faster than everything else, i think the link that FF posted will give you an idea of times....... Pics of FJ? .... Ask and ye shall recieve Beama: Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Nice pics there OSG, thanks. The F430 looks great with those wheels, did you get any shots of that flying around the track? That FJ looks interesting, if you could post up more details that would be awesome. Has it got the 3.0L or 3.2L engine? Thats one crazy bloody conversion for sure!! Is Bob the fella with the E36 M3R? And the E46 M3 CSL? I really wanted to come out today and get some pics, but it took longer than i thought to install my new track suspension
Thats Bob alright Chewy....... here's the link to my online album with all the pics from today....... http://photobucket.com/albums/v433/oosrg/Motorsport/
wooaahh nice pics!!! man i wish i made it out today, damn it!! even that fella in the Gallardo was there too
Ha, apart from some rear brake lock up sorting out balance bar, one leaving me facing the wrong way at the apex of MG, everything seemed OK. Brake pedal pressures are a b1tch though. I think it needs a smaller master cylinder bore. All in all I was very happy though, as I expected to be a lot slower given the brakes. I only took the car in to have the rotors changed to the Harrop supercar rotors and upgraded calipers, along with getting the cooling for the rotors sorted out, as I was replacing rotors every trackday. Howard took it upon himself to change to the dual master setup, that we had discussed many months ago as the solution to bypassing the electronics that stop the rear brakes working effectively. The workmanship is awesome with beautiful spun aluminium covers that fit snugly inside the rotors forcing the ducted air into the middle of the rotor where it belongs. Good news is the car will definately do olow 40's as is, with work on setup it might even get into the '30's. Then there's the CF bodywork and front aero still to come. I have a spare oild sender to install tomorrow morning to prove/disprove the faulty sender theory. Given that there is zero pressure showing and absoltuely no movement of the gauge reving the motor I think (hope) it's more likely a gauge than a motor that needs rebuilding.
If the oil pressure gauge is on zero... and if that was correct... wouldnt the engine have siezed by now?
