I was at the recent F club track day at TGPR waiting to go out for first session after the lead/follow session. Car in neutral and F1 warning light comes on and won't shift into 1st. After several attempts it engages and take car around slowly and park it. Just had the fluids done a day before. Only driving after fluids was to my house and then on to the trailer. Fluid level looked ok. Let it sit for awhile. After restarting no problems and was able to drive the entire day without any problem. Do you think maybe I had a little air or dirt go through the system ? Next day cleaned up the car and took it for a little drive with no hint of a problem. Looking for any suggestion.

Don't worry - I had that problem several times with my Modena on track! Just go on slowly and the sign will disappear - and then you can floor it...! Its the usual electronic bug...

Was your foot fully depressed on the brake pedal when attempting to engage 1st gear?

Yes, I had my foot on the brake firmly. I had put the car in neutral while waiting in line to get on track. The F-1 warning light came on as well. After that initial scare everything has worked fine and no more warning symbol.
