    Hi all,

A couple years ago (I think) I told the story about how USAA dropped my policy of 26 years (with zero claims, zero tickets) JUST for asking about HPDE coverage. Well, today I exacted just a little more revenge on USAA.

In today's online version of the NY Times, I am quoted in an article about track day (HPDE) insurance. It will appear in the print version tomorrow.

I read the article. I was really surprised when they mentioned USAA. I have had nothing but good experiences with them for 15+ years. BTW what is their policy?

Well congrats on your revenge :) I think this is an important article for everyone that track their cars. I track my motorcycle. I assumed I was covered, but now I am even afraid to ask. I am now also worried about the liability of getting hurt or hurting someone else. The bike is inexpensive to replace compared to potential hospital bills. Hmmm. Thanks for posting this.

Not as surprised as I was! I had been insured by USAA since the day I got my license. In 25 years, I NEVER had a ticket, NEVER had a crash, and NEVER filed any other kind of claim. I was a DREAM client! And, they dumped me JUST for asking about HPDEs. They told me as much when I called to ask why I got the cancellation letter. But, their representative told the NY Times reporter that it was for "several other reasons!" LOL! Ummm.... yeah.

Im an event organizer for a club event at Road America and we preach up & down the block to our drivers that WE are not responsible for anyone's car as far as coverage goes if an incident were to occur. We have a statement in our reg form that advises all potential drivers to check PRIOR to the event about thier coverage in the event of an incident to avoid 'surprises'.

We've had driver's cars both covered and rejected by various insurance companies for repair after incidents.
