Was intending going on the FOC track day on the 5th October. Carole Nash - well reccomended broker by other Fchatters - won't insure this through my Royal Sun Alliance policy. They also say they have no other classic car policy that will cover track days! Anyone else had experience of this? Had a feeling I'd seen a recent post about being able to organise independent insurance for track days - anyone with any specific info. on this? Thanks Kevan See you down the road - with huge grins on our faces
Interesting. I insured mine through ClassicLine - 01455 639000. The policy itself is through Royal & Sun Alliance. They will insurce a FOC trackday for £50 a time, but would not insure any other track day. Hope this helps...
Very confusing I am insured with classicline and they have issuied me with a cover note for each trackday ive done this year FREE of charge.(maybe they know i take it easy). Not all were FOC days either. Andy.
From what I can gather all the insurance companies have realized that if they take track day cover from their std cover they can do specialist motorsport insurance and charge ridiculaous amounts. I am insured with Chubb and they say that their cover does not include Track days however if you get a quote from "competition car insurance" it is generally undewritten by Chubb ! Similar story with R&SA ! I use Everitt Boles and i bought a bulk 4 track day cover for this year at a discount instead of getting each day separately. You can give Ryan Mone a call 0207 709 9559. I was again on the phone to him today to arrange some more cover for the Nurburgring and Spa ... can't wait ! good luck http://www.everittboles.co.uk/
I realy can't although I'd really do fancy it. I am really tracked out for the year. I am doing Donnington on Monday as a guest of the BMW M Owners club and I have Spa & Nordscleife again in Nov as well as a possible Magny Cours (can't decide yet!). I have already done Silverstone, Donnington, Spa & the ring so far ... I'm running out of play money :-(
We saved £400 using Liverpool Victoria, they cover track days free of charge and you don't have to have any experience.....I was really surprised at the lack of exclusions on the policy. Aon also cover track days but I found it really hard navigating their site and a nightmare of a call centre.
Just got a one-off quote for £199. £22500 sum insured £2500 excess!! Chubb policy Cheers Kevan See you down the road - with huge grins on our faces
Do you have a yearly mileage limit? AON will only allow me 6000 miles per year and track days at about 100 pounds (1% of value of car) with 10% deductible... Total cost per year of about 2 grand, I'm 34, never had a crash, a scratch or speeding ticket, competition license holder and insuring 4 cars (Ferrari, Porsche 996, and 2 Mercedes) through them. I'm thinking that I'm being taken for a ride by these guys (just moved from the US 6 months ago) Thanks for any advice JM
Andy, I know KGM well - have you told them about the shiney cyclinders up front for your scuba diving? Gary
It seems to me that there is a common theme on here regarding insurance and track days always being an issue. I would be quote happy at putting together an F chat scheme for insurance that meets the needs of the people on here as much as possible. At this stage i can't gurantee it would be cheapest but with everybodies input maybe we can develop something that covers track use without being judged a rip off as well as everyday insurance including your non- F cars. If there is enough interest i could collect info by email or PM's on your existing cover and what you would all like and come up with an F chat package? Thoughts anyone? gary
Hi Gary Count me in - perhaps you should start a new thread. I currently insure a Mondial Cab, Merc 55 AMG Cab, BMW 318 Touring and a Toyota Previa - don't even ask me what I pay!! I have seen people talk about shadow(?) NCB on other vehicles, which I don't get and obviously there is the issue of track days for both the Fcar and Merc. Look forward to seeing this progress. Cheers Kevan See you down the road - with huge grins on our faces
You dont need track day insurance on a foc track day just get an FOC instructor to go round with you and show you what to do they are at every track day and very experianced
Gary being in insurance you no that us drivers never tell the truth, if anything was to happen they wouldnt be there for them to see.( you no there only for show dont you, if they ask.) Andy
Andy, I thought that may be the case. I know KGM very well - good company but if you claim they turn over every stone to avoid paying - so if you had anyone at the track day with a big mouth could be an issue! Cheers, Gary
Renewed insurance today with Classic Line. 348TS LHD 6000 miles/annum, £445 to Liverpool Victoria's £726 Track day cover for FOC meetings is free, 10% excess. Others £52 or £105 depending on who is running them.
