Agreed, looks like you never dropped into the danger zone. Amazing that it happened just before the pit in.

I have a trailer, thankfully. I learned a while ago that if you want to maximize your fun at the track you can't be worried about making the drive home :).

Oil was gushing out right at 34 in the picture. Which, of course, sits right in front of the p/s header. Not sure if it was the hose, the union or the o-ring yet. Most likely the $610 hose and not the $15 union or $25 o-ring :)

You do realize the now you have done it. :) There will soon be threads on how every 355 needs those parts replaced because they are old and the "new" oil formulations "eat" the hose from inside out. And of course, there will be a boutique hose supplier which uses the same hose material as used on the space shuttle which will out live the steel the car is made from. Just a matter of time. Better do it now! Another item to sort. :D

You can say that about almost anything with rubber in it on these cars, they're 16-20 years old at this point so stuff is going to fail. I was obviously running my car pretty hard at the time, so that's when stuff is going to go. That said, a 'boutique' supplier at half the Ferrari price would probably get some business.

I'm going to see what I can find locally as there is a pretty good hydraulic shop nearby, but if that doesn't pan out I can send you mine when I take it off of the car.

I am sorry as I know that was a scary moment and there is some expense for repair.

    But that video is awesome!

It is! At least I got an awesome video out of it. After watching that and looking at the (lack of) damage, I can't believe how lucky I got.

oh wow.. from the 2nd vid.. you can see the flames burst out quite a while before the right turn..

from the onboard original vid, looks like it happened just before the turn..

once again you got away with that very lucky and minimal damage, from what it could have been..

we never know what can happen, regardless of driving conditions, track, street etc.. come spring time, I will have extinguisher in my car without fail..!

id feel like a super jackass in the god forbid event of a fire with my car, and I didnt at least have an extinguisher, to "try", even if at best to relieve some damage..
