I have an opportunity to do a track day with Ferrari (drivers coming out from Italy) "Pilota Ferrari Around the World". Am seriously keen but have the following question:

Whats the likelihood of getting through the day on one set of break pads and not having to have them replaced (my pads are perfect)?

In general those who have tracked their 430's (I have steel brakes (not CCB)), do you need discs re-surfaced and new pads after a track day.

Are you planning to run the car to the max, or at least your max? It also depends on the amount of track time. You most likely wont run out of pad life in 8-12 laps. I (we) will need some projected figures to work off of.

You can easily get a dozen or so DE type track days out of your brakes that should not even be a question. I think that you should be more focused on learing how to properly drive on the track. Learn how to properly brake, downshift and coner. Your will really enjoy your car.

If you have never done a track day before then do it.

Probably to my max (which would be way off the factory drivers). There will be 24 cars doing the course so I assume we wont get too much track time each over 8 hours.

I have done a bit of track work a while ago but not in a Ferrari, so hence the question.

Brake wear will depend a great deal on the track. If it's long with long straights followed by tight corners, then, yes, a set of pads won't last long but should last at least a day even on the toughest track for brakes. Rotors should not need to be resurfaced. Eventually they will need replacement due to spider cracks between the holes.

Did it at E.Ck couple years ago. You won't have any problems. Enjoy.
