i do track days with various companies like scda, nasa, trackmasters, etc. also go with car clubs like pca, bmw, audi, etc. my experience with the companies is always favorable with them treating me like a valued customer. i get the opposite with the car clubs. they treat me like the new kid in school. theyre only about their rules and regulations. anyone else have similar experiences?

No one gives you any BS if you got a competition license. Then you always get the benefit of a doubt. If you are courteous and keep the shiny side up no one bothers you. People who claim to drive flatout are always looked at with a jaudiced eye.

yes thats a funny cartoon but how about the opposite situation.

at a recent pca event they gave me the wrong wristband but no one noticed until the afternoon when they told me i could no longer drive with it. when i asked for the correct one they said that person left the track and hes the only one who could do it so tuff luck! i raised hell and someone managed to come up with one but not till i missed most of the session! give me a break.

I was very surprised that the PCA would not allow a non-participant to do a ride-along with an Instructor. This would seem to be a great way to let a newbue learn how these events operate. And a ride-along gives a guest/spouse/girlfriend a taste of what we do. Otherwise it can be very boring to visit a track as a non-participant. On the other hand, most PCA DEs are cheaper than other groups, at about $300 per weekend vs. $400+ for other clubs/companies. Some PCA events are PCA-only, but others are open to non-PCA members.

If you do an FCA event, you will pretty much be guaranteed a smaller run group than almost any other club or organizer. For instance, I have found NASA to be overcrowded. The other thing I really like about FCA events is the camaraderie off the track. There are group meals and other events off the track. Whereas most other groups you are on your own.
