Planning on a few track sessions and wonder how best to protect the finish on the car without going the clear bra route??? Any suggestions???

Depends on how fast your event is going to run. As long as you are in the low 100's down the straight, you might consider a Speed Lingere bra. I used one on my Spider and it remained in place up to 130 which was the fastest I dared test it. :) Don't for get the mirror covers. Warning: This doesn't come cheap. A 3M clear bra is less but once it's on, it's on.

Head over to Lowes or Home Depot and buy the "blue painters tape". Get the wide rolls and apply, goes on and comes off easy. I have used this method several times and its easy on the paint.

    kmc,

I agree with the blue tape....used it several times myself. Just make sure you have good wax, so it comes off easily. I also apply the tape so that the wind cannot catch an edge and start to peel it up. It will start fapping in the breeze and possibly scratch some paint. Start from the top and work down, start at the botttom and work up. The last tape across is about at the top of the bumper. Hope that makes sense.

Thanks, I really did not want to go the 3M route so I'll look at this and the cheaper painters tape as well....

LOL, I was at a track day event and a TR driver came who pretty much taped up the entire front of is car in blue painter's tape - he covered all the seams, lights and the lower bumper cover. It was ghastly and gave the message that he wasn't able to afford the car or the ability to repaint the front end when it got nicked.

I have never had any problem in some 16 or 18 events. Not a single chip. Admittedly, VIR is a very clean track. But you get stone chips when the car in front of you picks up something, so just don't ride the bumper and you will be fine.

I have also seen an entire roll of blue tape used. I think it looks ridiculous, but then it's not my car, so that's easy for me to say!
