    Hello,

I'm just about to Toyo RA-1 R compound tires on my F430 for track days, and am wondering if anyone had experience with plus sizing. I'm going to a 18" rim and thinking about putting these on:

    245/40-18 front
    305/35-18 rear

I'm wondering if anyone's done this, and if there are clearance issues? Overall height is about the same, about 20 mm of additional width...

    thanks!

You might want to have your local Ferrari dealer's top tech check with FNA first. When I asked about fitting the 19" Pirelli slicks they said that it was a no go because the extra grip would cause problems with the Ediff. Since Challenge F430's don't have Ediffs there might be something to this. I've also heard that there might be some problems with the front control arm bushings, but that was from a Pirelli guy at the track.
Just a heads up before you commit.

I did speak with the lead tech, and he said that slicks were a no-go for the reasons you cited, but the RA-1s are okay because they're less sticky and won't confuse the eDiff or stress the bushings beyond reasonable limits.

The clearance remains a question, but if worse comes to worse I can add a spacer.

I'll post comments once I have the setup done and integrated.

Just make sure you pack your chisel so you can change wheels. :D

So, I made the changes mentioned above.

The wheel/tire combination fits perfectly. There is no rubbing even under heavy positive loads, and it even works on twisty, bumpy mountain roads. Compared to another F430 with stock Perelli P Zeros with a slightly better driver behind the wheel, I was faster ( appx 1.5 sec / lap) and slid significantly less.

There were no warning lights from the eDiff or traction control system, and ABS seems just right.

I'm counting this a smashing success!
