Does anyone here track their car? How do they drive? How do they hold up? Anything special need to be done? All input is welcome. Thanks.

I have tracked my 328, and I really enjoy the way it drives. However, if you are on the track with newer cars of any marque, prepare to get out of the way a lot. Nevertheless, it has wonderful balance and great feedback, but ultimately, the body rolls too much and not enough power.

The main thing is to make sure your car is safe. Number 1 with this (or any car) is to have fresh brake fluid and make sure the pads have plenty of meat left. If it's never been tracked, have a mechanic look over the suspension to make sure everything is tight and nothing about to wear out. Torque the wheel bolts to 85-90 lbs. Get a fire extinguisher, a helmet and you are ready to go. Once on the track, everything should work well. The brakes, while not powerful, should be firm and consistent. The water temp may go to 210-220 if it's a hot day, but more important, watch the oil temp. If it gets to 270, time to come in and let the car cool off. However, it would likely have to be a very hot day for this to happen. Fresh oil is a good ides as well. 328's have good cooling systems. Typically, I don't run the R's much past 7K. There is little to be gained by running the car at the brink. It's not very fast anyway. Most of all, have fun.

I would HIGHLY suggest you get the rear stub axles magnafluxed bcus on 308s they have a tendency to snap after extended high G load.

Brembo has a big brake kit for the front
at least get some good pads from www.porterfielf-brakes.com

Nick has a suspension upgrade kit

racing seats, harnesses, & a turbo could be fun too

Brembo does not have a big brake kit yet............................... I will be fitted for the first for a 328 within the next couple of weeks. I have double adjustable shocks from Nick's and front and rear bars on the way. All bushings replaced. Should handle much flatter. However I don't think I will track much.

After this, my "craze" to go after a Ferrari has lessened a little... but not much... :) Maybe I'll just have to accept either

    1. Trying and only doing autox
    2. Doing road courses, but accepting that I'll get passed... a lot....

I have only had the 328 on the track a few times, but what a blast!
As others have said; it's not fast, too much body roll, you will get passed a lot, blah blah blah...
What is the purpose of having the car? Track days are good fun and good learning. It can be a bit hard on the car as well, but worth it for me if only once in a while.
If you really want to race, buy a Formula Vee.

The cars are built for performance and, if well maintained and regularly driven, a day at the track isn't especially demanding. Braking will be more stressful than on the street.

You might have an extra good check of the vehicle before and after. Maybe an extra service - before and or after.

The cars are nearing 20 years old - so no lap records. Have fun. I was on the track about a month ago - 328GTS. It was a great day. :)
