I have an '06 F430 coupe with about 3500 miles. It seems that the prices of spiders are falling these days but coupes are holding up such that I could trade for a spider ,same year same mileage, for maybe half of the difference between the two last year. I just wanted to ask you spider owners your thoughts. What disadvantages, if any, do you see in your spiders vs. coupe?

Generally you have to do what makes you happy . Personally it's always been sort of a dilemma . Coupes as a rule tend to look better as a design statement , since they are usually the design that takes place first , followed by the convertibles . The coupes have a sheetmetal roof profile that doesn't have to be compromised by a folding top mechanism . However , there is absolutely nothing like putting the top down on a spider and going for a drive on a sunny day , listening to all the great sounds emanating from right behind you . It's all personal preference in my opinion . Having had both coupes and spiders , for a Ferrari i would opt for the spider version . Bently Continental GT , definitely the coupe for me . Each car coupe or spider makes a statement . Coupes are more rigid , if racing or track events are your thing . Spiders are more of a visual "statement" , once the top is down . Spiders with the roofs up however are usually an unfortunate visual statement , but not always .

what do you figure would be the cost of the change??? Keep in mind you would have to also take a loss on the trade in, with the dealers selling you the spider at retail, but buying your car at wholesale.....interestingly enough, the open market price gap between ferrari spiders vs coupes is always intially huge, then it decreases but always remains higher than other cars....
