    Hi,
I have my 2012 F. California for a year now and brought to track last year for 6 times and replaced brake pads and tires and flush brake with Castrol SRF.

I love my Cali and use for daily driving car and awesome. I still have one year extended warranty from F… but recently wondering to trade in after my extended warranty expires next year with McLaren 650s spider… so it will be much faster and hopefully better on corners when doing tracks… also hopefully a year from now the price of used car will be dropping little bit since Computer chips and supply chains problem easing up little bit….

The problem I heard after some research that McLaren is not reliable … many people complain with many issues so suggested must have warranty from McLaren to give peace of mind….

Anyone of you have experience with 650S?

Again I love my Cali but just need more speeds and handle better on tracks?

    Thanks for your time!

I have not owned a 650s, but it is definitely on my radar of next cars also.

Definitely a great choice for a track car for more speed, but if you are worried about reliability, then the porsche gt3 and corvette z06 are always best bang for your buck.

Yeah I was thinking about GT3RS like my friend has one but too expensive…actually my number one choice is 458 spider but right now it’s crazy around $240-250K while 650s spider in range $150-180K…

I use my car for daily driving too besides for track so next year if price is going down (if not wait for two years …. Uggh) then trying to have 650S with one year or two year warranty… adding $10K cost…. Love this picture below and hopefully someday dream comes true

With a few mods ( mostly brakes ), the 458 is a great track toy. Not the fastest, not the quickest in the turns, but quite lively and fun. And it’s not a bad DD either.

Agreed and that was on radar for my number one car to trade with my Cali half year ago but with used pricing 40% increase this year… I can’t afford 458 Spider…. Maybe 650S Spider next year or two

Hopefully the price of used car will be back to normal again within 12-18 months as long as the shortage on computer chips from China and supply chain issue are fixed in a year….

Have 650S, 458 coupe and 991.2 GT3. Top speed and acceleration is 650 > 458 > GT3. Track GT3 > 650 > 458. Reliability, toss up since I haven't had any issues with any of the cars although I track the GT3 regularly and the other cars rarely. Friend of mine routinely tracks the 650S without issues except for the carbon brake rotors can wear quickly.

Advantage of the 650S is that you have the spider but no chassis flex. I looked at the 458 spider but there was creaking with the top up on hard turns which meant that there was flex even with the top up. Top down, flex was noticeable. Nothing in the 650S which I attribute to the carbon tub. Haven't driven the 458 hard at the track but the GT3 can overload the brakes using the stock pads on the ceramic rotors. On the GT3, switching to cheaper steel rotors with AP racing calipers for track use. Thought about the GT3 RS but for us mortals, probably will not be faster on the track although more uncomfortable on the street. The Porsches definitely have the best resale value.

I don't have a 650, but I have a 570S. It is brilliant on track and there really isn't much that can live with it. In 3.5 years it has been bullet proof.

Glad to hear that no issue on 650s and 570s since the reliability is my main concerns on McLaren. I am also researching 570s spider as well since was told if you want have peace in mind with ML then buy the one less than 4 years and with two year warranty ….so 570S is the newer one so make sense to choose that but it has only 570 HP vs 650 HP… plus the price on 570s spider is more expensive than 650s spider ….. I think I need to enjoy my Cali this year first then think ML next year 2023 hopefully price is going down little bit
