I have a buyer for my former track car (05 911S) and will not be replacing it. I'm considering taking the money (and some more) and using it to upgrade my 05 430 for either a newer model or a Scuderia. The 430 has been my all time favorite, a perfect blend between luxury and performance, and is still in great condition with less than 10,000 miles. The wife is also in favor of the move, but I'm not sure I'll like the Scuderia as much as the 430, and trading the 430 for a newer 430 is hard to justify. Any of you guys that have made a similar move have any regrets?

I'd swap for a Scud in a flash if I could get a good deal on her.

I would not swap for another 430.

I do not own a 430 so take my advice for what it's worth.

David, drive the Scuderia for just 10 minutes and you'll be convinced the Scud is for you. The delta between a 430 and a Scud is significant, imo.

I made the swap (from an F430 Spider to a 16M Scud), and couldn't be happier!

Unfortunately there is not one readily available for me to drive. My dealer does not currently have one in inventory, and I doubt any one else would let me take their's for a spin. Eastern NC is not the Ferrari capitol of the east coast.

You don't need a test drive. You will hear every piece of road your tires pick up in the wheel wells. The visibility out the rear window is altered. There is little, if any, sound deadening material inside. I've driven it four hours and came out of it feeling pretty good (i.e. the seats support and don't beat you up too badly). The E-diff and tires keep it planted unless you want to kick the tail out, in which case, it will do that all day long. The ferocity with which it shifts is 2nd to none. I don't know what car I would replace it with. Just get one. That may sound wreckless, but it's not, and I'm certain the other Scuderia owners will back me on this one.

If you're looking for a luxurious ride, look elsewhere. If you are looking for handling and speed utility, this is the machine you dream about.

If you can afford it, get it. Big cost delta, though.

I had a 430 and it took one drive in a Scud to convince me to buy one. The Scud is not a minor upgrade its like buying a completely different car, if you like a car that is more track oriented its a no brainer, other than the cost upgrade. However, I have no regrets what so ever, the Scud is a great street car that is good on the track.

I guess one thing I should clarify is that I'm not looking for a replacement track car, I'm done with the track.

Is it worth the extra (almost) $100k? That's the question you have to answer and only you can do so. I'd drive it if I were you and that should give you all the information you need to make a decision. :)

I just got a new scud a few weeks ago. After owning two other 430's, I would have to say it's far superior to the regular 430 in every way. I would highly recommend one, even if you have no plans to track it. It's just a joy to drive and you won't regret it!

On a side note, I think the dealer here (Boardwalk Ferrari in Plano Texas http://www.boardwalkferrari.com/used-inventory/ ) has 3 used scuds and they are great to work with. Call Enver Kaba at 866-476-3696.. he's a great guy and will work you a good deal.

    Thanks,

    Rick

The scud is a very different monster compared with a normal 430,I made the change and I am very happy.
It is going to be a special car for many years...

    2008 Scuderia: 7:39

The performance gap between the Scuderia and the F430F1 is as huge as it is between the 05 Carrera S and the 997 GT3 RS. Both the Scuderia and GT3 RS feel raw.

Please drive one before buying. I did and kept my 430.

The Scud is for those who (respectfully) either really know how to drive on the track and do so regularly or for those who like to brag about the car they own. The Scud is for the track, not the street. If you do not track it, you get bragging rights, discomfort, and allot of noise, for more money. This is a great example of less really is less (for the street).

Today I went to a Sunday morning trip with some friends with the scud now with 1000 kms so I went up in the revs this thing makes things 50% better than 430,s the general performance is really good....

I disagree. The Scud is a road car. It may have some track oriented attributes but it is a ROAD car. I have both 430 and a Scud and if I were to keep one, it would surely be the Scud. The drive is taken up a notch on the emotional scale. The only reason I would stick with standard 430 would be if the car is a daily driver. Scud is perfect evening/weekend car.

Are you bad at math? 16 seconds vs 57 seconds? 41 seconds is a life time on a race track.

I personally cannot see giving them my F430 and 100K for a scud even though I can. I agree with RBK for the street.
    Also why I own a 997Turbo instead of a GT3.

I was in the same boat, own a F430 and was tempted to get the Scud.

I did drive the Scud at TMS last March when Boardwalk arranged a DE for its customers.

Great car but I still like my F430.

They have a couple at Boardwalk and Enver was going to make me a good deal.

Do contact Enver and he will work with you

Looked at the delta and got a 997TT and kept the F430.

A minute is only 60 seconds....

    Quoted numbers,
    05 Porsche 911 S--8:02
    07 Porsche GT3 RS--7:45

    Time difference = 17 sec
