Scud production was closer to 2,500 excluding 16Ms Still limited compared to about 14,000 F430s. Scud will definitely be rarer than 458, but 2,500 is hardly rare and the Scud is not everyone's cup of tea. 458 numbers will probably be lower than F430 because Ferrari now has another model in the Cali and the 458 Spider seems to be further out that the F430 Spider which closely followed the F430. F430 Spider production was higher than Coupes.
2500 scud coupe I don,t think so check your stats, there 1500 coupe scud build at a high side worldwide and only 449 16m worldwide, 458 there going to product mass production double then the f430
For whatever it means, I've been told very recently by a dealer that an 09 under 3k miles, excellent condition, reasonable options, blah blah, is $225-235k out his door...assume a bit of profit in that number. As noted above, my guess is trade in, at dealer for 458, would be $215-$220k.
'08 Scuds with 6k miles are already in the $190ks retail so wholesale must be in the $170ks for a car with miles (relative term for these "miles" of course)
For informational value only, 6 months ago my dealer said my 2008 Scuderia was worth $215K on trade-in for a 458. Today the car is low $190K. MSRP was $299K. Edit: These were trade-in values. I don't know what the "wholesale" number would be. I imagine it would be less than the $190K I was quoted for a trade-in?
Did I read this right? You think a dealer will/can take an 09 scud for 225K and then sell it at 290K?
The figure comes directly from Ferrari source. You may want to believe it was limited - but there was definitely big volume. In fact one of the reasons resale values took such a hit in 2009 was that there was a surplus of unsold new models on dealer floors for a period. Convince yourself what you will - 360CS was about 1,400 production - Scud was much more usable and more correspondingly more popular. When Ferrari saw how popular it was they basically stopped building F430s and produced only Scuds.

You are becoming boring like me. My default is now Rosso Corsa and Black. I love it. The basic black interior looks very different in the 599, Scuderia, 16M and 458 so actually it is not as boring as it might appear
im also not a big fan of the 458 , keep your scud , almost same performance plus you will lose well over $100k to go into a 458 , not worth it , i drove 458 2 months ago and it did not leave me falling hard for it like when i had my 360 and drove 430 spider which i had to have right away , so i cancelled my 458 order and bought a loaded used 599 with a $353k window for$229k with 2,200 miles on it , let the first saps take the loss a year from now . the front of 458 looks to japanese like acura nsx final years with new headlights.
obviously your opinion, so no need to disagree on looks. my opinion is that the 458 is a huge step from the 430 and even the Scud if you can believe that. you need time in the seat to appreciate it. as for the 599 you purchased, are you believing that wont depreciate stepply as well? My opinion is they will fall similar to the 575 fall. My 02 575 had a $250k window sticker. it is now worth $100k...if I'm lucky!!
+1 the 458 is such an advance over the 430 (which is a terrific car). Just the transmission alone on the 458 with that engine is incredible.
458 is a bigger jump from 430 than 430 was from 360...the 430 is a great car but everything about the 458 blows it away....i have 800 miles on my 458 and im addicted....
Of course the 458 is a bigger jump that the 430 was from the 360. 430 is in many ways an evolved 360 - they are of the same generation. IMO 458 is a bigger jump over the 430 than the 599 was over the 575. However in both cases, the 430 and the 575 instantly became classic cars
I'm not sure that the F430 is quite old enough to be considered classic yet. Certainly the Scuderia, and especially the 16M, will go down as collector cars, if not all time favorites, but as for the regular 430 time will be a better indicator of modern classic status don't you think? I agree with many that the 360 CS, 550, and 355 are cemented as modern classics but the 430.... Scud is a different proposition. Although I am new on this board I might also predict that in the future the manual transmission cars of the 430, 360, etc may be more sought after than the popularly-equipped F1 cars, particularly as the Dual Clutch technology in the 458 continues to be refined. Just my thoughts.
