i have a proposal for a new and helpful project for us ferrari drivers, who are, due to obvious reasons, not able to obey all the traffic rules imposed in the different european countries.

let's put together our efforts in researching the traffic sanctions to foreigners in each of our countries of origin. there is too many hearsay and plain rumours and i'm sure everybody of us would really like to know what he has to face for example for speeding in another country.
what is also of great importance is the consequences in the home countries for a violation of traffic rules in a foreign country, especially the legal assistance and the information exchange between the corresponding authorities of the foreign country and the home country (EU and non-EU (for us poor swiss guys).

as waldo says: "Give your reaction!"

    just as a hint:
the Schengen-treaty defines the rules for handling fines for most of the EU members (not included is for example UK), the handling for revocation of driver's licences is handled in a separate EU treaty, but is not signed by all EU members yet.
for the swiss people it looks quite desastrous, more to follow. for foreigners in switzerland it's not so bad, at least not worse than if it would have happened in your home country.

OK, you will not believe this...
I searched for quite a while on the net but there is not a single source saying, for sure, what are fines for breaking the traffic rules.
Theoretically the fines MUST be the same for everyone, should you be a citizen of the country where the rule has been broken or a forigner. This is valid all through Europe and is dictated by a EU law. Gess what?
Italy is under process at the Strasbourg court for having broken this rule.
So... No certainty in life if you are cought breaking the rules in Italy!
    Ciao
    Eugenio

The fine in Italy will probably be what the officer needs! If he is short of cash the fine will be higher.
