I think most of us worry about pulling the transmission dipstick plug because it always seems to be in there so tight! I assume that you are saying that the threads are stripped in the transmission case, not on the plug itself.

The nice thing is, if you look at the threads in the case, it's tapped 12 threads deep. If you look at the threads on the dipstick, it only has 4 threads! That means that even if the top 4 threads are stripped by overtighting the plug, or having the threads seize, there are probably still 8 good threads below that. According to my gauge, the thread size on this is 12mm x 1.25. I looked in my box-o-bolts and easily came up with a bolt that fits right into the case. It's a bit longer than necessary (16 threads long) but any metric supplier should be able to provide you with a new bolt (and washer) that will fit the bill.

If you felt really creative, you could braze a dipstick onto the bottom of the bolt and put the indicator marks at the same depth as the original stick and hey presto, there you go. No need to risk getting debris into the case by retapping anything. You should put some anti-seize onto the threads before installing, of course.
