I can't help you with the Ferrari application but I have used Speedi Sleeves many times on boat trailers many times with success. The part that sticks out (where the part # is) would push up against the shoulder on the axle in a trailer application. A Speedi Sleeve is a "universal" product, fits better in some cases, not so good in others. As long as the seal rides on the sleeve without rubbing on something else it should work. A careful test fit will determine if it will work in your application.

That does not look right. I just checked my SKF 91177 and it appears to be shorter than the hub stub it is being hammered on to, so shouldn't stick out.

I caliper measured the sleeve, mine is 21mm.

Assuming your sleeve is the same, I would try to press/hammer it down further. It may just be a tight fit. Note that they tell you not to heat the sleeve. Perhaps if yours is too tight, you could put the hub in the fridge, then tap it on.

If you are sure the flange will not interfere with the seal the excess can be ground off and the edge sanded smooth with fine paper. I have been forced to use a sleeve that was too long in a few cases.

In that particular application I have not really found them prone to leak. Typically if I see a little seal wear I usually just sand the surface with some 400 or 600 paper and finish with crocus cloth. Also there is some latitude on seating the seal so it can just be located where there is no wear.

Thank you to everyone for the input. I will test fit it with the old seal in place and see how things look.

See Fig 12 on page D19 of the 308GT4 WSM -- looks like the Speedi Sleeve can't extend very much, if any, beyond the end of the splined hub. Are you using a press to install the Speedi Sleeve or something else?

I used the "Supplied Tool" which is a metal cup that you slide over the sleeve and hit with a hammer.
the sleeve wont slide on any father because that is where the machined surface on the hub stops. from there on its just the radius of the casting.

Always possible that F changed the machining of the hub to save a few $s (moysiuan's photo does look somewhat different than yours) as they only really need the area where the seal rides to be good. You've got a little bit of the same option -- if you just ground off the excess material protruding past the end of the hub, it doesn't have to be perfect (because that's not where the seal rides). My copy of the 308GT4 WSM isn't great quality -- if you just look in where the hub goes can you confirm/deny if the end of the hub butts up to something solid (i.e., no room for the extra protrusion)?

It clamps up against the side gear face as I recall. Cant have that extra sleeve hanging off if it really cannot go on further. A check of possible interference of the lip and seal is needed though.

I checked and the Hub does not go all the way on with that extra material sticking off the end. I will grind it off and see how things work.

I took the sleeve back off and you see how different the machines area is on my hub than the one moysiuan has. Image Unavailable, Please Login

There appear to be different hubs for 328/ QV, Mondial 3.2, 288, etc. even though all use the same diff seal. There are parts supresessions now as well to add to the range of hubs out there.

Eurospares appears to have new ones now available, and some used ones for the various models. We have slightly different hubs for sure. There must be a different sleeve for different height hubs, with the same diameter.
