After a 220 mile problem-free trip in my 1999 355F1, I parked her in her garage. Two days later I noticed a large pool of transmission fluid under the gearbox cover. I checked the gearbox oil tank; it was dry! I contacted my mechanic who advised me to have it transported to his shop. I added Dexron VI to the proper level in the gearbox oil tank. When I turned the ignition to "On", the normal sounds of the hydraulics occurred but did not cease. Repeated attempts resulted in the same if not LOUDER sounds. Being afraid of burning out any pump, I stopped trying. The gearbox failure warning light illuminated during my attempts as well as the check engine light. Being unable to get the car into NEUTRAL gear so that I can push it onto a trailer, I am stuck! What can I try? Thanks in advance.

BF- The F1 system uses synthetic automatic transmission fluid, the transaxle uses 75W-90 synthetic transmission oil.

If you added Dexron VI to your F1 system, it could have been, but probably was not, incompatible with whatever was in there originally, but it would not cause the F1 pump to run continuously. That is an electronic function. It sounds like you may have a burned out F1 pump relay, which is a simple swap job. When that relay fuses its contacts, the pump will run continuously. On later model F1 cars, starting in around Nov 03, Ferrari replaced all those 30 amp F1 pump relays with 50 amp versions that were much tougher.

When too much ATF is put into the F1 system, as soon as it warms up, it pukes over the side. That may have been what you were seeing under your F355.

Thanks for the info; I will forward it on to my mechanic. However, I still need to get the F1 tranny in NEUTRAL to get it on a trailer. How can I accomplish this?

Two ways to get her into neutral, hit the paddles or try and start, in which case she will go to neutral for the start. If you have no hydraulic pressure, though, they may have to bring two trolleys to place under the rear wheels. That is why F1 malfunctions usually, but not always, result in the system selecting neutral so she is not stuck in a garage or intersection.

Your local Ferrari dealer should have a hand driven pump that will connect to the clutch bearing line and release the clutch for pushing. It is a Ferrari Tool and works very well.

Where do I locate/access the F1 pump relay to check it for problems?
